“Hope in Samaria”

John 4:1-26

I.Jesus left Judea and started their journey to Galilee (4:1-6).

A.Jesus went into Samaria.

B.Jesus went to the city of Sychar.

C.Jesus sat down by Jacob’s well to rest.

II.Jesus talks to a woman who came to draw water at the well (4:7-26).

A.Jesus asks the woman for a drink.

B.The woman is shocked that a Jew would talk to a Samaritan.

C.Jesus offers her the living water of salvation.

D.The woman thinks that Jesus is talking about water from the well.

E.Jesus tells the woman to go get her husband.

F.The woman responds that she has no husband.

G.Jesus tells the woman her past.

H.The woman realizes that Jesus is more than just an ordinary man.

I.The woman asks Jesus about the location of the proper place to worship God.

J.Jesus tells her that those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and truth.

K.The woman tells Jesus that she knows the Messiah is coming.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who isthirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
