NAMI 6th Annual Breakfast, May 6, 2016

The Antlers, downtown Colorado Springs

7am – Early Riser Special (coffee, pastries and entertainment)

7:30-8:30 am – breakfast and program

·  80% of NAMI's funding comes from generous individual donors. At this time, we receive no government funding.

·  The breakfast is NAMI's major fundraiser. Last year we raised over $90,000 (approximately 30% of our annual operating expenses).

·  This is NAMI’s sixth annual breakfast. The breakfasts have introduced hundreds of people to our many programs and support groups for individuals and families who live with mental illness.

·  Because of the success of the breakfast, we've been able to introduce new education and support programs targeted to those who live with mental illness, in addition to expanding our mainstay programs that educate and support families.

About NAMI

NAMI is dedicated to building better lives for the one in four in our community affected by mental illness. Each year, hundreds of people enroll in our free classes: Peer to Peer for those with a mental illness, Family to Family for family members and friends who have a loved one with mental illness, Provider Ed for mental health care providers, Basics for parents, grandparents and others who care for children diagnosed with mental illness, and Homefront for families, caregivers and friends of military service members and vets with mental health conditions. NAMI also offers Ending the Silence and In Our Own Voice. Ending the Silence is an interactive presentation that helps teens learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps they should take to find support for themselves or their friends. In Our Own Voice is a presentation during which people with mental health conditions share their powerful personal stories.

Last year, NAMI helped more than 3,000 people seeking education, support, resources and guidance. NAMI advocates for access to treatment and services, and we are committed to raising awareness and fighting stigma. Mental illness affects everyone, regardless of race, age, religion or economic status. People living with mental illness need help and hope, and NAMI works every day to create a community that supports them, their families and their recovery.
