GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Solano Small Business Development Center is part of Humboldt State University’s Sponsored Programs Foundation and hosted by the Northern California Small Business Development Center (SBDC). This nonprofit program serves the business community in Solano County by providing small business workshops and free business counseling. Funding for this program comes from the US Small Business Administration, the State of California and Solano County. Humboldt State University has hosted the Solano SBDC program since June 2017. This position is a part time appointment. Includes sick time accrual; no health benefits. This is not a state or federal position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Perform screening and intake interviews, and direct and register potential clients for appropriate consulting and/or trainingopportunities

•InpartnershipwithSolano SBDCDirector,developandmaintaincooperativeworkingrelationshipsandpartnerships with other operators within the region’s economic developmentcommunity

•Assist with quarterly and annual programmaticprocess

•Coordinate Solano SBDC events including facilities arrangement, logistics support

•Attend and assist with Solano SBDC events and webinars

•Attend business functions as a representative of theSolano SBDC

•Reconcile Solano SBDC event records in database tracking system,Neoserra

•Provide guidance to clients interested in starting or growing their business in Solano County

•Coordinate Solano Advisor counseling space

•Maintain office supplies, equipment andmaterials

•Assist with the development of client success stories

•Assist Solano SBDC Director asassigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer skills required including proficiency in Word, Excel,PowerPoint
  • Ability to conduct online research, manage a database, and learn new softwareapplications
  • Willing to travel for events within NorthernCalifornia

  • Read, comprehend and interpret written materials of moderate to complexdifficulty
  • Ability to learn new, complex topicseasily
  • Excellent writing and verbal communicationskills
  • Detail-orientated with excellent organizational and multi-taskingabilities
  • AA or Bachelor’s Degree preferred from an accredited university or the equivalent in 4 years or moreof sufficientandprogressivelyresponsibleofficecoordinationandcustomerserviceexperience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience as a small business owner

  • BA/BS in Business Administration, a related discipline, or equivalentexperience
  • Knowledge of Solano County and economic development community initiatives
  • Previous experience working with small businesses ornonprofits
  • Previous experience working with federal and/or stategrants
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management software or otherdatabases
