Job Summary:

Under the direction of One to One Children’s Fund Director of Development, the Major Donor Manager will play a critical role in securing philanthropic income from donors giving 4 to 6 figure gifts to contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s fundraising strategy.

As a powerful and sophisticated networker, you will be able to swiftly develop relationships with new and existing supporters to capitalise on the strengths and networks of the organisation to date. You will have experience of successfully securing income from high net worth individuals and be able to demonstrate the necessary empathy and conviction to convince funders of the worth of our projects and to secure new income flows.

You will be proactive and creative, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to interpret and synthesise complex information into compelling messages. You will have strong organisational skills and attention to detail and be able to work to tight deadlines. You will be a confident team member with entrepreneurial spirit.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a major donor strategy that focuses on tailored donor cultivation, solicitations and communications plans for different levels of donors.
  2. Identify and engage with potential donors as well as conducting prospect research to ensure a strong pipeline of new funding opportunities for unrestricted and restricted gifts.
  3. Nurture and maintain strong interactive, strategic and sustainable relationships with existing donors through exceptional donor care and a variety of scheduled activities.
  4. Arrange face to face meetings with Major Donors and Prospects to build relationships and secure gifts.
  5. Maximise income from new and existing donors through tailored fundraising asks, typically securing high value donations, in excess of £1000.
  6. Secure income to an agreed target in line with the organisation’s overall fundraising strategy.
  7. Ensure timely acknowledgment of Major Donor’s Gifts; ensure they receive the due care and attention that they need; and maintain accurate and up to date donor information on Salesforce.
  8. Assist with development of engaging content for project updates, applications, reports and presentations for current and prospective donors.
  9. Undertake other duties as and when required by the organisation at times.

Person Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • University degree or equivalent essential
  • Previous experience (2+ years) in fundraising from Major Donors
  • Extremely strong writing skills essential.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and MS Office, and an ability to adapt to new software. Experience working in Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge and Social Media an advantage.
  • Professional, competent and adaptable communication style on phone and over email.
