How to Read a HFS Drive for PC or Windows

Mac computers segment their hard disks in a format called HFS plus, which is the most recent version of Apple's Hierarchical File System. This file system is different from the NTFS system used by recent versions of Windows and thus cannot be natively viewed on a PC. But if you want to view an HFS drive in Windows, you can download and install the free HFSExplorer browser application.
1.
Open your web browser and navigate to

Click "Download installer" and save the HFSExplorer installation file to disk.

Double-click the downloaded file to install HFSExplorer to your computer.

Run the HFSExplorer application.

Plug your HFS drive into one of your computer's USB ports. Windows detects your HFS drive and displays its contents in the HFSExplorer application window.
6.
Navigate the drive using the browser tree on the left side of the program window.
7.
Click the "Extract" button to extract the selected files to from the HFS drive to your computer's hard drive.
