HOW TO INSTALL A HARD DRIVE

Use: The hard drive is used for the storage of data and other information. Installation is for internal use only. For external use please look at accessories. This installation requires the opening of a computer and internal work within. Please make sure the computer is turned off when installing the hard drive. For yoursafety and the safety of your computer please unplug the computer before installation. Due to the fact that installation requires some contact with wires and electricity please handle things carefully. Hard drives are very fragile, so please handle accordingly.

Preparation: The preparation requires tools, the screws that are provided and the hard drive. The tools required are a Philips head screw diver. Please refer to your case’s manual for the case opening instructions. This may include, but is not limited to pulling off the cover through the unlashing of clips, unscrewing screws for panels on the side or in cases of towers, the opening of a handle on the side. Also make sure that there are enough cables for power and data. Please check that there is room for the hard drive in your computer as well. Items included are four screws, one hard drive, and one bootable floppy for hard drive formatting.

Installation:

  1. Make sure the computer is turned off and unplugged
  2. Look up how to open the case by referring to the case’s manual.
  3. Make sure there is room for the hard drive and there is enough power and Ide cable slots
  4. Slide the hard drive in the open slot
  5. Look at the top of the hard drive and make sure that the dip switches (the little black tap on the back of the hard drive by the power slot) match the corresponding (master, slave, and auto)
  6. When in doubt set it to auto and if the old hard drive is to be used set, make sure it is ser on the first slot
  7. Screw in all the screws on both sides using the screws provided (Please make sure the hard drive is not pushed to far in or out too much)
  8. Connect the Ide cable (16 pins long socket) into its adjacent slot (it can only go in one way, please do not force it if it doesn’t fit)
  9. Connect the power socket (3 pins - it can only go in one way, please do not force it if it doesn’t fit)
  10. Reconnect all case parts and reattach all corresponding parts
  11. Plug in the power cord
  12. Place included floppy in the floppy drive
  13. Turn on computer
  14. Before for loading press delete or instructed button to goto setup
  15. Goto Bio setup and make sure that primary boot is set to floppy
  16. Press escape
  17. Go to Ide recognition to make sure that the hard drive is registered
  18. Save the settings then reboot
  19. On load-up let it boot and follow step-by-step instructions
  20. Restart your computer and enjoy your new hard drive

Troubleshooting:if you experience problems or errors, please refer to . If you wish please try re-installing the hard drive starting from step 11. Also, please make sure you follow all instruction when formatting the hard drive off of the floppy.
