By train
From Copenhagen/Malmö to Mjölby, from there local train Skänninge, from there bus to Vadstena
From Stockholm to Mjölby, from there local train to Skänninge, from there bus to Vadstena
From southern Sweden to Mjölby or Linköping, from Mjölby local train to Skänninge, from there bus to Vadstena. From Linköping bus to Vadstena.
By bus
From Stockholm or Malmö there are also Express buses, often the cheapest alternative.
From Stockholm: from Cityterminalen at the Centralstationen there are two buses: (daily direct tours to Vadstena) and
.From Malmö daily bus tours to Mjölby: Swebus departure from Triangeln´s shopcenter, which you reach by taking a train from Malmö Centralstation. It takes 3 minutes. In Mjölby change to local train to Skänninge, then bus to Vadstena.
Attention: There is no direct train connection to Vadstena.
Bus tickets are available in an ATM machine at the station or with credit card in the bus
IN VADSTENA
In Vadstena get off the bus at “Vadstena brandstation”,(firestation) From there you follow the signposts to Sporthallen (also Simhallen), Borgmästaregatan where you find our reception.
CARDRIVERS
Entering the town on road nr 50, from the south, you stay on road 50 into the town. The road is called Södra vägen, but changes its name to Margaretavägen. Soon when you see a small kiosk-shop on your left you see the Brandstation on your right. B-e-f-o-r-e passing the Firestation you turn to the right and you see the Sporthallen/Simhallen.

Therefore you must pay in Kronor (SEK)
THE RECEPTION is at Sporthallen.
It is open on the 29th at 3 to 6 pm. Please do not arrive earlier !

On the 30th the Reception is open between 10 am and 2 pm
PARKINGPLACE DURING THE PILGRIMAGE.
You can park your car behind the Sporthallen or along the side of the Sports hall. At the reception you will get a “parking permit” to put inside your car, allowing you to park there.
NO SHOES allowed in the sports hall on the marked court areas !!!

Then groups walk away without returning to Sport-
hallen. The first meal is provided in the groups.
Wednesday 7 August: Arrive at Sporthallen after 12 o´clock. Each group is responsible for their own lunch. Final service in the Klosterkyrkan 16.00. Dinner and veillée at 18.30.
ADVENTURE GROUPYou are expected to carry all of your luggage.Bring a hiking mattrass (not an air mattrass) for sleeping. In ourcircular tentall sleeping feet will meet at the central heater or post. Therefore the mattrass must be rather narrow down at the feet and therefore perhaps not thicker than 4-5 cm.
LUGGAGE not needed on the pilgrimage, can be deposited in a room locked during the week.
COFFEE at lunchtime: In the Swedish national pilgrimages we never have a kitchen brought to the different lunch spots. Anyone who wants coffee at lunch must bring athermos flask and fill it at breakfast.
CENTRE GROUP: Sheets or sleeping bag must be brought. You will sleep in beds, in rooms for 2 or 6 people. You are welcome to sleep there already the day before the start i.e. the 29th. And bring your towel !
VOCABULARY:
“Klosterkyrkan” ( The Abbey church) is today the parish church of the protestant Lutheran Swedish Church. It was built according to the information that Birgitta got from Christ . We will start and finish our pilgrimage there.
“Sankta Birgittas Kyrka” is only about 30 years old, built just outside the modern convent and it is catholic. Every evening Vespers is celebrated at 16.25 and Compline (Night Prayer) is on Sunday evenings at 19.30, other evenings at 20.30 .
