How to activate “Limited Mode” on a PTN1 talking book player
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS FOR THE PTN1 PLAYER ONLY AND THIS PROCEDURE CANNOT BE DONE ON THE PTX1.
The Limited Mode on a PTN1 talking book player is useful for those who do not want to use – or may be confused by – all the buttons, functions and options.
In Limited Mode 1 the sleep timer and bookmark buttons (and related facilities) are disabled.
In Limited Mode 2 the tone, speed, information, and all six arrowed buttons are also disabled. This is the mode that is least confusing.
To put a player into a Limited Mode:
start with the player turned off and connected to its mains power supply.
Hold down the bookmark button (marked with a tick) and the play/stop button; now press the on/off button for a second.
Wait until the player announces “Menu 1 access time test”, then release all buttons.
Now go to the 4 navigation keys which are situated in the centre of the player in a circular formation and press the right arrow button 3 times, you will hear “Limited mode”.
Press the play/stop button once, you will hear “Enter Limited mode level 1”.
If this is the required mode, press play/stop.
If level 2 is required press the right arrow once more*, and then press play/stop. A message indicating that the mode has been “set” will be heard.
Turn off the power.
*A player may be taken out of Limited Mode by proceeding as in the previous paragraphs, but pressing the right arrow an extra time at this step.
After making changes, test that the player performs as expected.
It is good idea to put a label on the base of the player to state that it is in a limited mode as a reminder.
