Job Description: Fundraiser and Volunteers Manager
Reports to:Director
Key responsibilities
- Fundraising(30%)
- Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to help cover the costs of the special needs section and other outreach activities (such as the young carer programme)
- Provide regular updates and reports for funders as required
- Develop materials to support fundraising efforts (e.g. flyers, case studies, sponsorship forms etc.)
- Maintain records of costs and income related to the special needs section and other development activities so that they can be properly accounted for
- Manage donations for the special needs riding sessions each term – keep records and issue receipts where necessary
- Riding for the Disabled Activities (30%)
- Work with the Director to develop and implement the strategy for the Horse Rangers Association’s (HRA’s) special needs riding section and to progress further development opportunities in line with HRA’s core principles
- Manage HRA’s relationship with the Riding for the Disabled Association, including training and annual census
- Recruit and manage volunteers for the RDA section (including inductions)
- Ensure HSE requirements for riders and volunteers are met – riding hats worn, suitable shoes/clothing etc and that weight limits for riding horses are adhered to
- Manage the waiting list for the special needs riding section – give information and waiting list forms to potential riders/parents/carers and ensure places are filled from the waiting list as and when spaces occur
- Ensure that riders, schools, parents, carers, the Royal Parks, supporters and other interested parties are aware of special needs riding term dates and other events and activities
- Organise regular meetings for RDA Instructors (every 4-6 weeks)
- Maintain regular and timely communications with volunteers – re: term dates, events and outreach volunteering opportunities at HRA
- Liaise with group instructors, volunteers, riders, parents, schools, carers, the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and other members of the HRA to ensure the smooth running and development of sessions and events for the special needs riding section and other outreach work
- Other Development Activities (20%)
- Continue to develop and roll out the Young Carer programme
- Investigate and implement other outreach opportunities for the charity to adopt
- Communication(10%)
- Attend regular HRA Commandant meetings (every 4-6 weeks)
- Develop further opportunitiesto encourage feedback and suggestions from outreach volunteers and supporters
- Provide appropriate content to the office for HRA newsletter and media releases
- Events and Activities(10%)
- Ensure Risk Assessments are carried out and adequate HSE measures are in place for all activities
- Coordinatewith outreach volunteers to organise and manage RDA and other outreach events and activities, including the Special Needs Riding Section’s Open Day, Summer Fun, Christmas Buffet, Fancy Dress Competition at the Windsor Horse Show, RDA Dressage Competition, training days, Young Carer Days etc.
- Co-ordinate with the HRA admin team on key HRA events with outreach involvement, such as Founder’s Day Parade, Gymkhana, Awards Day, etc.

- Maintain records and prepare reports
- Undertake training as agreed with the Director
- Be trained in Child Protection and take on the role of Child Protection Officer.
- Tasks of a similar nature and level of responsibility as agreed with the Director.
- Act as an ambassador for the charity and represent HRA as required at external events and presentations
