Scary Movie Project
Overall Idea:
You will choose the "monster" and manipulate camera angles, special effects, sound effects and music to make a horror film. Anything can be a monster if you help the mood with special effects and music. In the example, a group chose to make the snack food Marshmallow Peeps the monster.
Directions:
Decide on a monster. Get enough "monsters" to make the video. You will probably need more than one to be on the safe side. If you are using something consumable, like food, you will need more than one. If you are using an MP3 Player or plant, you can use one, but remember to be very careful with your "star!" Decide on a location, school locations work just fine. Create a storyboard for your video. A storyboard is very important in horror movies because the camera angles are crucial.
The monster
For this video, the monster should not be scary by itself. You will make it scary. If you want your story to have a happy ending, pick a monster that can be beaten in an interesting way. With no budget or props, the monster could be a virus. While makeup for boils or other physical effects is expensive, a virus could have a simple effect like forgetfulness, or the inability to say certain words, or to listen to certain music.
The story
The genre is simple…you must use the components of the “Hero’s Walk”. Your video set must be Pioneer Middle School.
Shooting the video
You can make this project most effective by using camera angles. Shoot from the monster's POV (point of view). A shot of the hero (or victim) is more interesting when shot from above — making the character seem vulnerable or powerless — or from below, which makes the character seem more powerful.
