Practice reading and spelling the most frequently used words: We will be practicing these five words in the last list of MFUW (#’s 76-100): word, what, were, their, other

We will be learning to read the vocabulary for the story: Busy Buzzy Bee. Our focus skill is Cause/Effect. Our focus strategy is Reread Aloud.

Practice reading the decodable books: Rabbit and Mole & A Vole Finds A Home. These books will help your child practice reading the spelling pattern in context (long o sound made with vowel-consonant-silent e).

First Grade News: We will be reading a nonfiction story about bees. The students will write the facts that they learned about bees on a web and then use the web to write complete sentences about bees to form a paragraph. On Tuesday, we will celebrate Earth Day by planting seeds and watching them sprout and grow over the next couple of weeks. Please visit our school this Wednesday night to see your child’s writing from 6-7 PM.
