Westmoreland County Community College – Homeland Security Associate in Applied Science Degree with a Homeland Security Certificate Option

Westmoreland County Community College offers a Homeland Security Associate in Applied Science Degree with a Homeland Security Certificate Option. The program offer the academic preparation and practical experience and training needed for an entry level technician or support type position in the homeland security or emergency management field. Students will complete online Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) courses and will be certified in Incident Command Systems (ICS), National Incident Management, and Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP). Students will gain an overview of the United States’ programs in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. In addition they will learn to conduct threat and vulnerability assessments, continuity of operations planning, and learn aspects of public safety programs including emergency medical, police and fire services. Students will gain insight into international terrorism and learn about weapons of mass destruction. Successful graduates of this program may work in entry level security and support positions in private industry as well as local, regional, state and Federal agencies.
