WELCOME BACK!
We are thrilled to have all the children back in school, they have been missed over the summer! PLEASE ensure that you sign up now for Compass so that you know all upcoming dates and get communication from your child’s guide. You can also view any updates that are posted regarding your child in the classroom via Compass! Please contact me early to learn about the different volunteer opportunities that we have available this year so that you don’t run out of time. Remember, the school year really does fly by! Thank you for being the best community of parents in town and here’s to a great new school year. Please note that Louise & Toni will be your points of contact for Director while I am out on maternity leave! Please watch for emails from Jessica Goodpaster who is the President of the Friend’s of High Desert Montessori 501c3 with updates and information on how you can help! Our goal this year is to add a lot of wonderful things to our school and our hope is that with enough work, the elementary classroom can be run at a very minimal charge!
Updates From Your Guides
Casa-Drew & Kayla (Toddlers)
We are excited that our infant’s will have their very own classroom this year, which means more work time for the toddlers who are in many cases, so ready for it! A couple of our dads have spent the past couple of weekends painting the Casa to give it a fresh, clean look and new hardwood floors have FINALLY been approved by our landlord! Those will all be installed by Bobbie’s husband and any knowledgeable parent volunteers who would like to help him and get their volunteer hours out of the way early this year! We hope to complete this within the next two months! With any luck and enough help, we can complete this in a day or at most a weekend. New windows will be going into the Casa as well before winter cold hits. We welcome new students, Aria & Lilah and welcome Marshall back from his summer break!
Gobi-Kathy & Morgan (Infants)
Starting on 9/13, our infants will have their very own beautiful classroom and play space in the main school, separating them from our older often rougher toddler group! You may have noticed the new fence that went up outside & near the main entrance to the school building. We are excited to be working with our youngest students on independence and grace & courtesy lessons. We are thrilled to welcome new students Everett & Annabelle!
Arabian & Patagonia-Jennifer, Toni, & Trishelle
Thank you to everyone for welcoming us into your homes and helping us get the new school year off to a great start by letting us get to know your children and your families just a little bit! We will be working on a lot of grace & courtesy lessons to start the school year off, as well as care of the environment. We are so excited to welcome Trishelle to our school this year to complete her practical student teaching work. She has already shown herself to be a tremendous asset to our community. We welcome new students Cora, Liam, Paisley, Harmon, Toby, Brighton, Maggie, Ashton, Estelle, Ella, Lillien, & Finley to our two classrooms!
Kalahari-Louise
Welcome all Kalahari students and parents. The classroom is all ready for the 2017-18 school year. I am predicting within a month the children will rearrange the shelves and tables just as they did at the end of last year. It is after all their classroom where they do their work. I spoke to many of you during the open house but wanted to emphasis that the children will be following a monthly work plan that they will take and make a weekly "to do list." Each month the majority of the work will change and get more challenging. We will start the spelling list and test in October and I will send home a new packet with the 8 spelling lists and guidelines. We have a few field trips on the calendar, some that will be weather dependent, basically if the smoke clears. I will be touch weekly about any changes and will give more details as they get closer. Welcome new student Warren to our classroom!
