5 different subjects are required as follows:

4 AS Level subjects passed with at least a D (50%)

PLUS

1 IGCSE subject passed with a C (60%) OR a 5th AS Level subject passed with at least a D (50%)

The 5 Matric subjects must have been written in two sittings (2 calendar years).

The 5 Matric subjects must include:

  • an approved First Language
  • another approved First or Second Language
  • one of the languages at AS Level
  • at least two AS Level subjects selected from two of Groups III, IV or V (refer to the website link above for the groups)

NB: At least four of the 5 subjects must be passed at AS Level.

Please be aware that one needs to have studied the IGCSE course in a subject before continuing on to AS Level and a pass mark of above 60% usually indicates that a student may continue with the subject. The subject choice for Matric (AS Level) below will be confirmed at a personal interview with the academic head, which will take place after the IGCSE examinations have been written.

Music as a subject may be taken in place of one of the lines above – choice of line to be approved by the Academic Head.

Although not required by HESA, certain students may request to study an extra AS Level subject. This may be possible as self-study (reporting to and being advised by a subject teacher), and will need the approval of the subject teacher and the academic head. In such a case, please complete the sentence below and speak to the subject teacher concerned. Please note that this is not guaranteed and depends on whether the teacher is able to offer it or not.
