1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.
B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.
2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
3. Materials, fabrication, finishing, fastenings, hardware, and accessories.
4. Mounting details and installation methods.
C. Shop Drawings: Provide project specific, scaled, shop drawings including:
1. Extents of installation, room sizes, layouts, profiles, signage dimensions, penetrations if any, control dimensions and architectural alignments.
2. Interface with building services and adjacent construction.
3. Material thicknesses and joints, anchorage, trim, hardware and locks, finishes, substrate materials, and accessories.
4. Base building requirements, and installation procedures.
5. Identify typography, artwork, finishes, message locations and similar.
6. Coordinate nomenclature and terminology with sign drawings, message schedule, and location plan.
D. Qualifications: For manufacturer and installer.
E. Certificates: Product certificates signed by the manufacturer certifying materials comply with specified performance characteristics, physical requirements, and project specific requirements.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Single Source Responsibility: Except as noted below, all materials and components shall be fabricated by a single manufacturer including mounting hardware and materials, fittings, fastenings, lighting, electronics, finished surfaces and concealed internal supports.

1. Changeable messages and inserts are provided by the owner.
2. Exterior concrete footings engineered and installed by general contractor.
B. Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 10 years or more experience in fabrication of solid phenolic materials, experienced in performing work of similar size and scope, and with production facilities to meet the project schedule.
C. Installer Qualifications: Specialized in performing signage work, with minimum 2 years experience installing similar products.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
D. Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship and finishes.
1. Finish areas designated by Architect.
2. Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.
3. Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
4. Accepted mock-up may be incorporated into the finished work and shall establish the standard of workmanship and acceptance for remaining work.
1.6 PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS
A. Convene at the project site minimum two weeks prior to starting work of this section.
1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Ordering: Comply with manufacturer's ordering instructions and lead time requirements to avoid construction delays.
B. Do not deliver signs until facility is enclosed and conditioned within temperature and humidity ranges expected of final occupancy.
C. Deliver and store products in manufacturer's original, unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.
1. Package and label signs in groups indicated on the drawings.
2. Prevent contact with materials or project conditions that may cause corrosion, discoloration, or staining.
3. Store signage materials in a safe, dry, above ground location until mounting surfaces are ready for installation.
4. Protect from damage from other trades.
D. Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.
1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
1.9 SEQUENCING
A. Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.10 WARRANTY
A. Provide manufacturer's standard one-year product warranty against defects in materials.

1.11 EXTRA MATERIALS
A. Provide extra signage equal to 2 percent of each sign type, no less than one complete sign of each type requested by the owner.
B. At completion of installation, submit extra stock of signs and components as indicated in the Sign Message Schedule.
C. Expedited Sign Maintenance Program: Provide manufacturer's coupon books for redemption of expedited replacement inserts and additional signage.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS

2.2 MATERIALS
A. Aluminum: Manufacturer's standard 6063-T6/T5 or 6061-T6 alloy.

B. Interior Panel Substrates:
1. 0.080 to 0.125 (2 to 3.2 mm) aluminum to ASTM B209.
2. Acrylic.
3. Aluminum composite material.
4. Polycarbonate.
C. Interior Enhanced Backer Materials: Applied to back of signs with adhesive.
1. Standard Backer: 1/4 inch (6 mm) acrylic.
a. Patterned Backer: Modified with digital receptive polymer to accept VOC free, ultra-violet inks digitally applied directly to the substrate subsurface.
b. Solid Color Backers: Painted subsurface in acrylic lacquer.
2. Aluminum Backer: 0.028 inch (0.71 mm) coil anodized aluminum laminated to 0.090 inch (2.2 mm) ABS plastic.
3. Wood Backer: 0.031 inch (0.78 mm) vertical grade laminated to 0.090 inch (2.2 mm) extruded ABS plastic.
D. Interior Sign Insert Materials:
1. ABS Inserts:
a. Composition: 0.090 inch (2.2 mm) extruded ABS plastic core with 0.003 inch (0.07 mm) UV resistant acrylic cap bonded during extrusion/texturing process.
b. Fixing Accessories: Pressure bonded to extruded PVC hook using high-bond, pressure sensitive adhesive.
c. Color: Integral color or painted in acrylic lacquer as specified with signs.
d. Protective Coating: Chromium industries #HM335RA texture pattern to prevent glare and disguise fingerprints.
2. Aluminum Inserts:
a. Composition: 0.028 inch (0.71 mm) coil anodized aluminum precision slit and laminated to extruded 6063-T5 aluminum Carrier.
b. Fixing Accessories: Acrylic adhesive.
3. Wood Inserts:
a. Composition: 0.031 inch (0.78 mm) vertical grade laminate precision slit and laminated to extruded 6063-T5 aluminum
b. Fixing Accessories: Acrylic adhesive.
4. Window Inserts:
a. Composition: Extruded 6063-T5 aluminum to hold die-cut paper insert with a clear 0.020 inch (0.5 mm) textured polycarbonate lens.
b. Fixing Accessories: Integral hooks for connection to Structural Rail.
c. Colors: Anodized black, anodized satin or painted acrylic lacquer as specified with signs.
5. Subsurface Copy Inserts:
a. Composition: Textured 0.020 inch (0.5 mm) clear polycarbonate face with subsurface Direct Print, High Performance Cast PVC Vinyl, or Silkscreen copy. Back sprayed with acrylic lacquer and laminated to an extruded aluminum Carrier Insert.
6. UDO Subsurface Copy Inserts:
a. Composition: Textured 0.020 inch (0.5 mm) clear polycarbonate face with subsurface Direct Print, High Performance Cast PVC Vinyl, or Silkscreen copy which slides into Window Insert.
7. Jewel Inserts:
a. Composition: 0.060 inch (1.5 mm) non-glare acrylic painted subsurface in acrylic lacquer laminated to 0.030 inch (0.7 mm) ABS pressure bonded to extruded PVC hook using high bond, pressure sensitive adhesive with first surface Direct Print, applied High Performance Cast PVC vinyl, Silkscreen, or Tactile/Raster Braille copy.
8. Sliding Inserts:
a. Composition: Extruded 6063-T5 aluminum with a black, or anodized satin finish with integral hooks for connection with Structural Rail.
b. Fixing Accessories: Holds 0.010 inch (0.2 mm) textured polycarbonate with subsurface Direct Print, High Performance Cast PVC Vinyl, or Silkscreen copy.
c. Sliding Insert moves horizontally with an inset finger press exposing different graphic information.
9. Photo-Luminescent Inserts:
a. Composition: 0.065 inch (1.65 mm) PVC Strontium-Aluminates laminated with pressure-sensitive permanent acrylic adhesive to 0.030 inch (0.7 mm) ABS material.
b. Fixing Accessories: Pressure bonded to extruded PVC hook using high bond, pressure sensitive adhesive.
c. Color: Photo-luminescent material is light green. Reference manufacturer data for Best Level Luminance Test Conditions.
10. ADA, Integral Tactile Inserts:
a. Composition: Graphics and Insert materials are one piece. Tactile Photopolymer Inserts are 0.080 inch (2 mm) phenolic photopolymer with raised copy etched to 0.032 inch (0.8 mm).
b. Fixing Accessories: Pressure bonded to extruded PVC hooks with adhesive.
c. Colors: Background is painted in acrylic lacquer in the specified Insert color. Top surface of copy characters is then added by roller printing in the specified copy color using Silkscreen inks.
11. ADA, Applied Tactile Inserts:
a. Composition: Computer Aided Router cuts acrylic characters 0.032 inch (0.8 mm) thick; bonded to ABS, aluminum or wood laminate Inserts using 3M 467 adhesive.
b. Raster Method of Braille consists of 0.059 inch (1.5 mm) diameter clear acrylic beads set into pre-drilled holes on ABS, aluminum or wood laminate Inserts resulting in 0.032 inch (0.8 mm) Braille text.
12. ADA, Subsurface Tactile Inserts:
a. Composition: High Performance Cast PVC vinyl bonded with a profile film reverse cut by computer, and applied subsurface to clear, vacuum thermoformable PETG. Materials are put into a Heat Vacuum Applicator (HVA) to form around the three dimensional graphics, afterwards the Braille is then punched.
b. Fixing Accessories: Insert is back sprayed with acrylic lacquer and laminated to an extruded aluminum carrier Insert.
