HERO ASSIGNMENT

A knight in shining armor? An athlete overcoming great odds? A comic book character with supernatural powers? A TV character? Who is a hero, and do we have them anymore? One thing is for sure, heroes must overcome battles not only with outside forces, but also within their consciences, in order to become people the rest of us can look up to. This assignment will force you to research a person who you think is a hero and present to the class through a poster, why they are so. Here are the requirements:

  • Choose a person that has heroic qualities. This can be someone famous, or even a close friend or family member. The person must be a REAL person! As much as we like fictional characters…this will mean more with a REAL person!
  • Research the person. YOU MUST HAVE 2 SOURCES FOR YOUR INFORMATION. Some sources could be the internet, books, magazines, or even personal interviews.
  • Create a poster explaining your “hero” and include 3 REASONS WHY THIS PERSON IS A HERO TO YOU. Poster must be neat, clear, and contain all important info. SEE RUBRIC.
  • Attached to the poster must be a work-cited page containing the sources you used. This needs to be in correct format with absolutely no errors.

This poster is worth a total of 25 pts. You will have one day (Thursday, Feb 3rd) in the LMC to research for information. You will also have one in-class work day (Friday, Feb 4th) to finish the poster. Posters will be due on MONDAY, Feb 7th.
