DETAILED ITINERARY
SUNDAY, JULY 27Hotel: Bellevue Coast Hotel (nights of July 27, 28 and 29)
Bellevue, WA 98004
Arrive/check in (no group meal plans)
7:00-10:00 pm – Workshop opening session at hotel
MONDAY, JULY 288:00 am – Leave for the historic city of Snohomish, WA where we’ll spend the day shooting in two outstanding private gardens, both of which have been featured in Better Homes & Gardens magazine! The group will have lunch together in Snohomish between garden visits, as well as dinner together back in Bellevue area.
7:00-10:00 pm – Classroom session at hotel
TUESDAY, JULY 298:00 am – Leave for Bellevue Botanical Garden. Photograph one of the most spectacular displays of perennial plant borders in the continental United States, as well as an alpine rock garden, dahlia garden, fuchsia garden and Japanese garden.
Lunch together in the Bellevue area afterwards.
In the afternoon, the group will travel to the West Seattle area to photograph in world-renowned nature photographer Art Wolfe’s private residential Japanese garden. This garden is rarely viewed by the general public.
Dinner on your own in the Bellevue area. (The hotel has a free shuttle to downtown restaurants and shopping for guests!)
7:00-10:00 pm – Classroom session at hotel
WEDNESDAY, JULY 307:00 am – Leave for Whidbey Island via Mukilteo/Clinton ferry.
Spend the morning photographing at a private, award-winning garden with lunch following at one of the unique and memorable restaurants in the area. Travel to the quaint historic waterfront town of Coupeville, WA on the northern end of Whidbey Island.

Free time to explore Coupeville with dinner on your own.
7:30-9:00 pm – Short classroom session at Coupeville Inn
THURSDAY, JULY 316:00 am – Leave for Anacortes ferry to Sidney, BC
Photograph pods of Orca whales and other summer wildlife habitat along the way, right from the ferry deck!
11:00 am – After clearing Customs, photograph hundreds of free-flying exotic tropical butterflies, finches, hummingbirds, turtles and frogs at Butterfly World & Gardens in Coombs, Canada. Lunch together in the area.
Hotel: Sidney Waterfront Inn & Suites Resort and Spa
Sidney, BC, Canada
After settling in at the hotel, travel a short distance to one of the world’s premier floral show gardens, The Butchart Gardens, and photograph among its 55 acres in gorgeous evening light until closing time. We’ll stay after dark to take advantage of all the lighted floral displays, including a spectacular summertime fireworks show!
Dinner on your own in any of the Garden’s restaurants.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 19:00 am –travel a short distance to downtown Victoria where you’ll enjoy time exploring and having lunch in this charming English city.
3:00 pm – Clear Customs and board the Black Ball ferry Coho in Victoria harbor for a 1-1/2 hour trip across the Straits of Juan de Fuca, arriving in Port Angeles, WA at 5:30 pm.

The group will dine together in Port Angeles.
8:00-10:00 pm – Classroom session at Olympic Lodge
SATURDAY, AUGUST 28:00 am – travel the very short distance east to the city of Sequim, WA, Lavender Capital of North America. We’ll photograph famous breathtaking purple lavender fields on privately owned farms and experience the perfume and beauty of this captivating herb. Lunch together in Sequim. The group will then journey back to Seattle via the Bainbridge Island/Seattle ferry.

Following dinner together, participants will have the opportunity to submit their best photographs from the week, which will be included in a digital slide show presentation to the group at the final classroom session on Sunday morning.
During this free evening, the hotel provides a free shuttle that allows you explore Seattle landmarks such as the Seattle Center/Space Needle, Pioneer Square and Westlake Center.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 38:00 am to 11:00 am – A final classroom session and multi-media student slide show will be held at the hotel.
