HEALTH DECISIONS DRUG PROJECT:

NAME ______DATES in IMC: ______DUE DATE:______

Objective: Students will identify categories of drugs and how drug use, misuse and abuse negatively affect people’s lives. Students are expected to complete this project and turn in all required components on the due date.

Directions:

1. Pick two drugs you want to research. Below you will find a list of examples, but you can pick one or both that are not on this list if you want.

2. Answer the 10 questions on the TEMPLATE for each drug, meaning answer all 10 questions TWICE. Make sure you write the sources from which you find your information at the end of each question that you answer. If you do not write your sources, you will get a ZERO. Taking information without citing it is plagiarism. Put the name of the source or the author after EACH QUESTION you answer using your sources.

3. Make a separate WORK CITED or BIBLIOGRAPHY. It should follow the MLA guidelines. You are required to use a minimum of 2 sources (at least one BOOK and one reputable website). The works cited needs to be typed for full credit.

4. Find a current article (dated 2008 or later) that relates to your topic. The article WITH its date and source are required in order to receive credit for this part of the project.

5. Write two paragraphs about the article. 1 paragraph on the information presented in the article and 1 paragraph explaining what your reaction was after reading the article. The article needs to be from a reputable source that SPECIFICALLY relates to one of the drugs you have chosen.

6. Present what you have learned about the drug topic and specific drugs you chose to research. The presentation is designed to be brief. It requires each student telling the class 5 facts (minimum for full credit) about the drug topic you researched and a short summary of the current event you submitted as part of the project. You are expected to tell the facts, not read them to the class.

DOUBLE/TRIPLE CHECK YOUR WORK!!! CHECK THE RUBRIC TO MAKE SURE ALL CRITERIA ARE MET AND YOU KNOW WHAT THE EXPECTATIONS ARE TO EARN 100% FOR THIS PROJECT.
