Wow! What an amazing first week of preschool. I'veabsolutely loved getting to know all of your children last week! I hope they areenjoying preschool as much as I am!

During the next few weeks, the children willcontinuelearning all about their new school and making new friends. We will focus on cooperation and getting along with others as the class continues tolearn the routines and expectations of school. We will be reading some greatbooks this week including; A Splendid Friend Indeed and The Rainbow Fish.

Here are a few special ways you can reinforce at home what children will be learning.

• Establish routines that will help your child to be attentive in school, such as getting plenty of sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and being ready on time.

• Ask the names of your child’s teachers and classmates.

• Talk about the school schedule and sequence of activities during the school day.

• Practice safety rules to use when going to school and returning home every day. I know the kids get very excited when they see you at dismissal time; however, to keep everyone safe, we are working on having the kids stay in a straight line while walking to the gate and having them waiting behind the gate until they are signed out. Ifyou could help reinforce these expectations, it would be greatly appreciated!

Focus Skills:

Patterns (identifying and creating)

Positional Words (in, on, under)

Comprehension (using picture clues and making predictions)

SHOW & TELL-Starting this week, we will be having Show & Tell! Each child has been assigned a Show & Tell Day. In your child's folder, you will find a label, with your child's assigned day. This week your child can bring a favorite toy to share with their friends. Please make sure the item that your child brings is small enough to fit into their backpack.

*Starting next week, to incorporate this activity into our learning, I will ask that your child bring an item that begins with our Letter of the Week.*
