What are the aims of the fund? Our fund is designed to support organizations who are looking to generate further income, create new initiatives or enhance existing and proven activity. Our new fund is open to applications that will deliver real change to young people, women and military veterans lives around the world, whilst also supporting your organization to thrive. We are particularly interested in applications that demonstrate an enterprising approach and innovative solutions to issues in your community, which in turn inspires others. All applications that fulfil our eligibility criteria will be considered. However, we are especially keen to support organisations that are currently small but have ambitions to expand, grow and deliver sustainable change. Where does Sage Foundation work? Organizations can be eligible for our help if they are supporting communities around the world where Sage Foundation is active. –

The Community Foundation for Ireland: Social Change Grants 2017 are now open!
The Community Foundation for Ireland Social Change Grants 2017 are now open! All applications are online and the closing date is 4.30 p.m. Thursday 13th April 2017. Please read the criteria document carefully for the relevant category you are applying for. This year we have the following two categories that you may apply for a grant under:
A. Leadership for Ethnic Minority Groups - Grants of up to €7,500 are available for projects working towards building leadership skills in local Ethnic Minority community groups
B. Inclusion for LGBT Migrants - Grants of up to €10,000 are available for projects working towards the promotion of inclusion for LGBT+ people who are Migrants

HSE National Lottery Funding
The HSE has been allocated National Lottery Funding for distribution to community based groups and voluntary organisations under the Respite Care Grant Schemeand the National Lottery Grant Scheme. Groups and organisations involved in theprovision of Health and Personal Social Services can apply for once off funding of between €500 and €10,000 for suitable projects.
Please note the following will apply in the case of all applications received:
· Applications will be accepted from organisations both within the Community Healthcare (CHO) Area and those who geographically lie outside of CHO but provide services to clients residing in CHO.
· Successful Applicants will be required to complete a Grant Aid Agreement with the HSE and be compliant with minimum Financial and Governance requirements.
· Applications that have major on-going revenue implications which includes the employment of staff, capital funding and running will not be considered
· Applications must be for once off projects that can be completed within the year of application (excluding respite)
· Applications for projects which are already covered by HSE Funding through and SLA/Grant Aid Agreement or otherwise will not be considered
· There will be an upper limit (to be decided based on number of valid applications received) of funding awarded to an individual organisation. Where multiple applications are received by an individual organisation that same upper limit will apply. Therefore it is recommended that an organisation intending to submit multiple applications should consider this upper limit and prioritise on that basis.
· It is envisaged that generally individual grant allocations will be in the range of €500.00 - €10,000.00 approximately.
· An upper limit of €10,000 for applications relating to Transport Initiatives will apply

Call for Entries for the GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards
GSK today launched its third annual GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards, designed to recognise and reward community-based charities who contribute to the improvement of people’s health and wellbeing in Ireland. There are thousands of “unsung healthcare heroes” all over Ireland: charities at the heart of Irish communities who are making a huge difference on the ground who deserve to be recognised.
This will be the third year of the GSK Ireland IMPACT awards. The program is an expansion of the global healthcare company’s IMPACT awards programme which has been running in the UK and USA for 20 years. Up to five winning charities will receive €10,000 each in unrestricted funding through the awards, while five runner-up charities receive €2,000 each. In addition to the prize money, winning charities also receive a specially commissioned video and photography package to help them promote their work. The awards are designed to evaluate how the charities operate, as well as what they do, examining areas such as management, innovation and partnership as judging criteria.
Claire Taaffe, Communications Director for GSK, says: “Irish healthcare charities are on the ground tackling some of society’s most difficult health challenges. GSK wants to champion these charities, many of whom are at the heart of Irish community health and wellbeing, and support them in continuing their great work. Previous IMPACT winners show that it is possible to run a small charity well while making a huge impact in communities. Last year we found 10 truly inspirational charities and we are so proud to have helped them continue and expand their support. We are on the hunt for this year’s winners and hope that small healthcare charities around the country enter and apply”.
The GSK Ireland Impact Awards 2017 will be judged by a multidisciplinary panel of professionals which includes Maurice Pratt, Chair of Barretstown, former Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney, and Deirdre Garvey, CEO of the Wheel.
Commenting on the launch of the Awards, Deirdre Garvey, CEO of The Wheel, said: “The GSK IMPACT Awards provide much-needed support and recognition for community-based healthcare charities. These organisations are uniquely positioned to help communities experiencing disadvantage and poor health outcomes identify and manage the issues that affect health and well-being. By shining a light on best practice, the GSK IMPACT Awards drive development and innovation in community-based healthcare.”
Last year, the five winning charities of the GSK Ireland IMPACT Awards were Nurture, Sensational Kids, Anam Cara, Dyslexia Association of Ireland and the Traveller Counselling Service.
The five runners-up were Amen Support Services, Cork Mental Health Foundation, Smashing Times Theatre Company, HIV Ireland and Move4Parkinson's.
Irene Lowry, CEO of Nurture, said: “Winning the GSK IMPACT Award for Nurture was of huge benefit, helping us to create a greater social impact of our work in Ireland.
Because the GSK funds are unrestricted it meant that we could employ a skilled professional one day per week to work on expansion of our support services. Since winning the GSK award we have successfully expanded our support services to Cork, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal. By doing so, we have provided critical supports to over 55 women that we would not have been in a position to do without winning this prestigious award.”
Organisations interested in applying must:
· Be registered and located in the Republic of Ireland and be in existence for at least three years
· Have a total annual income of between €20,000 and €1 million
· Target community health needs in Ireland, with community defined as a geographical community or a community of interest
· Able to point to a track record of achievement in community health issues

Deadline Approaching for National Competition for Ideas (Cash & Support for Winners)
8 winning social entrepreneurs will receive initial 300,000 euro in funding and support with potential for further investment and development opportunities
15 people with early-stage ideas will win a place at the Academy for Social Entrepreneurs
Social Entrepreneurs Ireland has reissued a call for entrants fortheir 2017 Awards Programme, supported by DCC plc, calling for applications from ambitious individuals with ideas to create positive social change in Ireland.
‘Don’t let a good idea go to waste’is the call from the organisation which seeks the most innovative ideas and energetic entrepreneurs to solve social problems in Ireland.
Speaking at the launch of the competition in February, Darren Ryan, CEO of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland said: ‘We support people who have an entrepreneurial drive, people who think big and have the ambition and energy to see their ideas realised, so that the social problem they are tackling may one day be a thing of the past. If you have an idea or project to make a positive impact, apply to us. If we believe in it, we’ll back you.”
Social Entrepreneurs Ireland is offering a whole range of supports for social entrepreneurs from start-up to scale-up. The call is for people with early-stage ideas right through to people who are ready to grow and scale their existing organisations to apply at socialentrepreneurs.ie.
Previous winners include Iseult Ward and Aoibheann O’Brien who had the idea for FoodCloud – an app that connects shops with too much food with charities who need it; John Evoy who had the idea for the Irish Men’s Sheds Association – a place in the community for men to connect and create meaningful projects; and Dara Connolly with the idea for ReCreate which takes unwanted materials from businesses and turns them into art materials for schools and families that couldn’t otherwise afford them.
The eight Award winners will join Ireland’s largest network of social entrepreneurs. As well as an immediate 10,000 euro in unrestricted funding, they will receive a place on an accelerator programme worth 15,000 euro, with access to over 150 pro-bono supporters, coaches and mentors. The programme will explore options for further funding and support from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, which historically ranges from 20,000 to 300,000 euro in value.
DCC plc, the international sales, marketing and support services group, is the flagship supporter of the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Awards.
Speaking of DCC’s partnership with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, CEO of DCC plc Tommy Breen said, “We strongly believe in the work of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland. Pendant Alarm Funding.
The Seniors Alert Scheme is to encourage community support for vulnerable older people in our communities through the provision of personal monitored alarms to enable older persons, of limited means, to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.
Funding is available year round under the scheme towards the purchase of equipment by a registered organisation i.e. personal alarm and /or pendant. The associated monitoring and service charges must be paid by the participant. Grant application, approval and installation takes approx. 5 working days.
