July 2015

Hello staff and volunteers! We are excited to be entering another year of Friday Knights II! Friday Knights II is a social recreation program whose mission is to support children, teens, and young adults with positive social interactions through fun and functional activities.

For Staff:

  1. One training will be offered in September to train new counselors, volunteers, and other FK II team members
  2. Training: September 10th at CCU
  3. Staff are expected to arrive by 5:45pm to prep your room and materials (as needed) and to accept kids as they arrive
  4. Instructional plans will be provided for counselors to use with activities throughout the night each FK II
  5. Some children need additional support throughout the evening due to communication and/or behavioral needs
  6. The goal of the program is for the kids to have fun, socialize, and feel confident!
  7. Paid staff: Attendance is important. If you are going to miss a session, please let us know at least a week in advance so that we can plan groups accordingly. If you miss more than 2 consecutive sessions without proper notification, we may have to ask that you step down from your role at FK II, as consistency is important for the children
  8. Fingerprinting: All staff members must have their fingerprints taken prior to their first day at Friday Knights II. Failure to have your fingerprints taken will result in not being able to work in the program.
  9. Fingerprinting appointments must be made at 1012 16h Ave, South Point Exec Center, Suite 111 in Surfside Beach.

About FK II:

  1. Runs on Friday nights from 6:00pm until 8:00pm (1 to 2 sessions per month through May, 2016)

  4. Parents are encouraged to take the 2 hours to mingle with each other, get some grocery shopping done, or relax over dinner
  5. Counselors, 1:1 support, and additional staff (including volunteers from CCU) are available throughout the evening to support and facilitate activities and social interactions
  6. Children (preschool and elementary) will be at the DDSN building in Conway
