Hello St. Margaret Mary Families,
Just a quick note to let you know that the students had a wonderful week of school. Our days began with a prayer and a pledge lead by our awesome SMMS Student Council. Although our students were busy adjusting to their new routines and schedules, they were quite happy to be back into a learning environment where they could re-connect with old friends while making new ones! Star Testing also began last week and will end in two weeks. Thisis the first of four standardized tests that will be given throughout the year. It serves as a ‘baseline for comparison’ when charting academic growth and improvement. In October, teachers will be given the opportunity to share the results of the first test as well as the first semester report card grades with parents through parent conferences. Our sports offerings are also underway. The boys’ football teams and the girls’ volleyball teams are busy practicing for the season that is just around the corner. Good luck athletes! The Moms Club gathered last week for their “kick off” meeting. It was fantastic to listen and learn about all the exciting events they are planning. If you would like to become involved in this fun-filled club, please contact Sandra Traversa. The week ended with all our students attending Mass on Friday. We also had several of our faculty members take the ‘day off’to travel to their children’s college for ‘college move-in’ day. Yes, it has been two weeks of teary good-byes for our faculty moms and dad, as they bid a bitter sweet farewell to their college bound kids:

For all our Junior High parents, please know that GRADE REVIEWbegins this Tuesday and will continue on every consecutive Tuesday until the end of our academic year in June. Grade Review is when all tests, projects and homework assignments from the previous week, are corrected, scored and published onto School speak. In parallel, all junior high students are given back their corrected assignments so that they may put them into their Tuesday homework folders to take home for parent viewing. Tuesday folders must be signed by the parent and returned Wednesday morning. ‘Parent signature’ indicates that the parent has viewed the corrected assignments as well as the grade report on School speak. An evaluation of grade point averages for all our junior high students in regards to ACADEMIC PROBATION is also done every TUESDAY.
