Salt Lake Arts Academyisoffering new After School Enrichment classes during Term 2 with classes beginning in early November and run through mid-January. All of our SEMESTER CLASSES and year-long LANGUAGE courses, which began in late August and early September, will continue through their scheduled end dates. There is no need to re-register.

Register for Classes listed below on our Compass system through your parent account.

PLEASE NOTE ——> Most of our After School classes run quarterly, loosely following our school terms, in order to allow flexibility into your family’s after school scheduling. We require a separate registration and payment for each term, with no outstanding balances remaining from prior terms. Financial aid is available through a separate After School Financial Aid form, available in the Main Office. Registration and payment are separate processes, both handled online with our compass system.

General information regarding our program follows:

●We begin in the ‘Commons’ at 3:05 p.m. for snack and announcements.

●All classes begin at 3:15. Please check individual listings for ending times, scheduled days, and pricing.

●Students are supervised until check-out. Late fees assessed if student remains in the building, and is not picked up on time.

MONDAY

AVIATION

Explore the science and physics of flight! Learn the parts and instruments of an airplane and fly using computer flight simulators. Learn the math calculations involved in flight planning and navigation, as well as enjoy flying remote control planes. Instructor: Michael Clark

ART SOCIAL CLUB

Come hangout, paint, draw, collage, work in clay, create a sculpture from found objects, go to an art gallery, visit a coffee shop with art on display and maybe even make food art!

A beginner’s intro to playing guitar, or a reintroduction for a student who hasn’t played for a while. Instruction includes the fundamentals of technique, reading notes & tabs, and playing chords. Many styles and genres are explored! Instructor: Judson Armstrong

FUN WITH FIMO

MATH COUNTS COMPETITION TEAM

Our Math Counts team will solve mathematical puzzles and come to a bigger understanding of the beautiful patterns all around us. Our problem-solving team will meet twice a week to enjoy team-building games, math concepts, and begin preparing for the state Math Competition in mid-Winter. YOGA GROOVE

Explore the fundamentals of yoga practice in a creative, fun way! Topics include: basic yoga poses (with optional challenging variations), breathing exercises, fundamental postural alignment, core strength, flexibility, and body awareness. For musicians who want to learn about recording their own work for additional sound mixing, refinement, or to really get it “out there” — whether you belong to a guitar singing girl group, rock heavy jamming boys band, orare someone in-between doing solo work — This is for you! SEW SIMPLE

An hour and a half to sew to your heart’s content for the novice to more experienced tailor. Choose from a range of projects to learn how to sew or to develop your skills. Class includes a special two hour trip to the fabric store during the second week to pick out favorite fabrics and materials. Project choices include home décor, accessories, media cases, clothing and more! Instructor: Karin Fenn

Want to learn something new and different? Create unique, fused glass pieces for gift giving or your own self! Learn to cut and layer glass for a variety of effects in projects such as mosaics, jewelry, magnets or wall art. Closed toe shoes are required. Instructor: Necia Wiggins

Come enjoy our incredible Wasatch mountains and learn how to take on a fun, perhaps new, sport! Amy Conn utilizes local organizations, such as Trips for Kids & The Bicycle Collective, Momentum Climbing gym, and more, usually getting our kids outside in the fresh air. ALL gear — mtn bikes, snowshoes, extra water bottles, snacks, first aid, and instruction is provided. Beginners and Beg-Intermediateswelcome! EARN-A-BIKE from The Bicycle Collective

In this six week introductory bike mechanics course, students work on bicycles to earn a bike from The Bike Collective, as well as free hours to use at their facility. Whether you keep it yourself or donate it, the decision is yours. Class held at The Bicycle Collective, 2312 South West Temple. Take advantage of those new bike lanes, come Springtime! Extra math assistance and instruction in small groups from faculty Dan Armstrong & tutor, Maria XXXXXX. Math Tutorial continues all year long, but registration occurs per term to allow for flexibility in students’ changing schedules and proficiency. Math Tutorial is offered on Monday AND/OR Thursday.
