Our highly valued scouting staff savor the challenge of recruiting players who have skill and persistence to play for the 1984 and 2005 Royal Bank Cup Champions. After nine years as a player and Assistant Coach with the Red Deer Rebels, Head Coach, Bryce Thoma, is in his fourth year as head coach of the Weyburn Red Wings along with Wes Rudy returning as Assistant Coach.

Red Wing players showcase their talents to NCAA, CIS(Canadian Universities) and professional scouts. Game Highlights are sent regularly and Live streaming are available to NCAA, CIS schools and families.

The route to the NHL through Junior A and College is improving noticeably with Pro teams taking more college players every season. Thirty-one percent of all NHL players in 2012 were from colleges.

You may continue your education at the first class Weyburn Comprehensive, or the Southeast Community College. You may also take on-line classes if you wish.

Thanks to an active Red Wing Alumni, players who play with the Wings as a twenty year old may receive a $750.00 scholarship for each season they have played with the team. Another significant contribution by the alumni has been their financial and construction assistance in the newly completed players, coaches’, trainers’ and media rooms, which are second to none in Western Canada.

Career enhancements for players include: morning practice, strength and flexibility classes,coaches’ practice 10:30am- Noon daily, free use of a first class gym, top-line equipment and Sherwood sticks, room & board with great families, paid by the team, team laundry done daily and possible part-time employment.
