Mark Tennant

Professor Mark Tennant is an Associate Professor in the College of Kinesiology of the University of Saskatchewan. Professor Tennant received his B.P.E. (Manitoba) and M.P.E. (British Columbia)

Professor Tennant has been employed at the U of S since 1971 as the coach of the women’s volleyball team for 27 years and as the instructor of undergraduate courses for 32 years. University of Saskatchewan supervolley coaches clinic, March 14, 15, and 16, 1980: training methods for serving, serve reception, setting, spiking, blocking, and spike reception is showcased in the 2007 University Authors Exhibition.

He serves FISU (Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire) in two capacities: Chairman of the CTI Volleyball at Summer Universiades, and Chairman of Beach Volleyball for the World University Championships. He has served as FISU Technical Chairman for volleyball at every Universiade since the Edmonton Games in 1983.

Born in Miniota, Man. he has been involved in university sport within Canada for thirty-seven years beginning as an athlete at the University of Manitoba in 1966. A multiple winner of the CIS women’s volleyball Coach of the Year award and multiple National champions with the U of S Huskies, the CIS women’s volleyball Rookie of the Year trophy bears his name.

Professor Tennant was inducted into the University of Saskatchewan Wall of Fame at the October, 1994 ceremonies.
