RTE - Right To Education

- Amit presented with overview of RTE

- Implementation took a long time - passed in rural, sub-urban and then urban

- How to help get exceptions for Asha supported schools

- If Asha supports knowingly that a school is violating then it might backfire on Asha

- Government know to run the schools, but the WILL is missing. KV, Navodaya V etc have proven to be very effective

- Continue to discuss after next week

WAH:

- No nominations yet

- Only 2 days left & lot of sorting, so no project from SV this time or try to get Jagriti if possible - Sekar/Shaibal are working on it

Sevathon:

- Include QR code in flyers: Shraddha

- Discuss & sort out the volunteer involvement: Conference call with volunteers & sort out the activities: Yash/Prasad/Thillai

Seva Mandir:

- Renewal discussion

- Kids are taken away for cotton plucking

- Around 500 to 600 children, every year goes unaccounted

- As intervention, 60 days seasonal residential learning camp twice a year

- NFE cannot go above 3rd grade

- Activity centers (Sahayog Kendras): helps improve attendance, grades etc

- Instructormeetings- 4/year

- Teachers are trained by Seva Mandir and evaluated

- Weekly discussion between teachers of activity center & government schools

- Asha funds only Badgaon zone

- Camera Monitoring for Shiksha Kendra seems to be effective with teacher participation

- Budget is trimmed for 20 Children for 50 days
