Objectives:SWL the main names of landforms, and how maps are made.

Objectives:SWL the orgin of early man, and how he lived.
Topics Covered: East Africa sites, hunter gatherer societies, and development of technology, fire, agriculture, and metallurgy.

Objectives: SWL The connection between agriculture, growth of population, and development of cities.
Topics Covered: Use of geographic boundaries, food surpluses, social class, religion, record keeping, and technology. / Week:4

Objectives:SWL recognize time designations and abbreviations, BC, BCE,and AD.
Topics Covered: Time line abbreviations and how to figure time between BC and AD, and the terminology of decades, centuries, prehistoric and historic.

Topics Covered: Describe why this area is called the Fertile Crescent. The development of the first powerful civilizations. / Week:6

Objectives: SWL or be able to write and informative paragraph explaining the contributions of Mesopotamian leaders such as Hammurabi and Sargon, and the impact of Hammurabi’s Code. / Week: 10

Objectives: SWL The physical geography of Egypt, by locating and identifying the major bodies of water, and deserts.
Investigate evidence historians use to conclude the relationship between Egypt and Kush.

Objectives: SWL The role of Pharaoh as god and king, the concept of dynasties. SWL the polytheistic religious beliefs of Egyptians and the important achievements of their civilization. / Week 12:

Objections: SWL the Egyptian time periods of Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms, and the importance of Menes, and several other rulers. SWL identify the location of Kush and its relationship to Egypt.

Objectives: SWL be able to explain how the practice of Brahmanism in India, evolved into Hinduism. SWL the structure of the caste system, and describe how Siddhartha Guatama’s teachings spread through out India.

Objectives: SWL the growth of the Maurya Empire and their political achievements, plus important intellectual traditions including Sanskrit, medicine, metallurgy, and mathematics. / Week: 16

Objectives: SWL to Identify the physical geography China including Mtn ranges, rivers, plateaus, and deserts. SWL to describe the Huang-He civilization and the Chang dynasty.
Week: 17
Standards Covered: 6.33-6.35
Objectives: SWL to explain the regions of China, and how they are isolated. SWL analyze the structure of the Zhou Dynasty and emergence of Taoism and how Confucius tried to solve China’s political and cultural problems. / Week: 18
Standards Covered: 6.36-6.38
Objectives: SWL the political contributions of the Han Dynasty, and cite the significance of the “Silk Road”. SWL the diffusion of Buddhism northward through China.

Assessment Types: (For example: assessments will be announced chapter tests and some quizzes. Reba will be sending out the testing calendar to complete this section).

The majority of assessments will be on Friday. A study guide will be sent home on each Thursday before test.

Major Assignments Required: No major projects at this time.

Field Trips Planned: None at this time.
