Series Objectives:

Following participation in this series, attendees should be able to:

  1. Gain knowledge of methods being used for InterProfessional Education (IPE)
  2. Discuss core competencies of IPE
  3. Describe methods to enhance IPE
  4. Plan teaching activities for IPE to us with students

By the end of the presentation, attendees should be able to:

  1. Understand the importance of collaborating with community partners such as, Milan Puskar Health Right Center, to provide interprofessional education (IPE) care to patients.
  2. Appraise the value of teaching dentistry and nurse practitioner students in the same setting allowing them to gain an appreciation for the others’ discipline and providing the foundation for building career-long interprofessional relationships.
  3. Describe the process of how to accurately and efficiently perform oral cancer screenings which involves the ability to recognize normal anatomy and learn the proper course of action if pathology is noted.
  4. Distinguish between non-cancerous lesions, such as candida infections, versus potentially cancerous lesions.

Target Audience:

This program is designed Physicians, Nurses, Dentists, Public Health faculty and practitioners, OT, PT, staff, students, other healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in the ongoing research in the field of InterProfessional Education, Care & Health.

Continuing Education Credit(per session):
The West Virginia University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The WVU Office of CME designates this live activity for a maximum of 1AMA PRA Category 1 credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
