Gunwharf Quays gets on board with the America’s Cup World Series, Portsmouth
From 21 - 24 July, the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series will be returning to Portsmouth and the South Coast’s leading premium retail outlet will be supporting the event. Throughout the weekend, visitors to Gunwharf Quays will be able to soak up the atmosphere and watch the world class sailing on large screens, whilst enjoying a weekend of special offers, dining and entertainment.

The Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series is a premier racing circuit that forms part of the 35th America's Cup programme. The series which will take place during 2016 and will feature the best sailors in the world competing on AC45's – 45 foot foiling catamarans. The circuit will travel to a number of locations around the world over the two years.
The concept of The Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series events was introduced during the 34th America's Cup and 9 events were held between 2011 and 2013 in a number of global locations. The impact was significant and the global circuit allowed for a much larger number of fans, media and businesses to get involved, see the racing and onshore action close up and increased the profile and scope of the events.

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth is all about high adrenaline, fast paced action on the water, as the best sailors in the world compete on ‘flying’ catamarans that reach speeds of over 40mph metres away from the spectators on shore. Last year’s event, held in July 2015, saw close to a quarter of a million people visit Portsmouth to watch the action with British heroes Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing taking the win on home waters.
The six America’s Cup teams return to compete in Portsmouth 21-24 July and the action will be fast and furious.
