Update your Member Info

With all the changes this year, we know many of you have new work sites, and we want to be sure you are getting your materials. Please use the following link to update your info, be it bank account info, work site, job title, phone number etc. You will need your member number to do this. The number is located on the back of your NEA Today magazine, but if you have misplaced that, email us and we will get it to you.

Why we love our school system

Your President and Vice President have a standing monthly meeting with Iredell-Statesville Schools Superintendent Brady Johnson. He has asked us to be sure you are aware of the monthly advisory meetings, and emphasized that ALL staff are invited to attend the appropriate meeting. If you have concerns that you would like shared with the superintendent, please let us know.

If an issue does arise, there are several steps you can take. The advocacy center is your first line of action. They will help you determine if any laws dictate your specific concern. If there are no specific laws, such as being reassigned to a new subject or a new school, it is OK to ask how you were chosen. It is not OK to just refuse to do something, that is insubordination, and it can get you into trouble. When in doubt, contact the advocacy center at 1-855-275-6223 (1-855-ask-ncae). If there are no legal steps, ask what you can do to better understand the situation. If you have any questions about this process, please contact us and we will be happy to provide a more specific explanation.

Wear Red for Public Ed

Every Wednesday all school year long, be sure to wear your red, and encourage others to do the same! Get some of your staff members together and get a picture of those wearing red and share it with us.
