August 2016

Greetings staff,

I hope that your summer has been filled with relaxation and rejuvenation. Teaching and learning require a great amount of energy and yet there is no greater service we can and need to provide for our students. I look forward to welcoming all of you back to another school year in a couple of weeks. Many of you have already been in the building preparing your classrooms or attending workshops. I look forward to an exciting year as we implement PBIS, Second Step, continue on with Responsive Classroom, AVID and Learning targets. We also will have our full time Fernbrook therapist – HollisWunderlich with us four days a week.

Our building looks terrific! The custodial staff has worked very hard this summer cleaning and shining up our building. Although we did not have any new construction happening this year, there were some room changes that happened throughout the summer. I will give you more information at our staff meeting on the 29th.

We welcome many new faces to our staff this fall. The following new staff members will be joining us at Jefferson:

KayleKatzung – KG Fellowship

Melanie Heintz – 1st Grade

To Be Hired – 5thGrade

Jared Simon – Physical Education

Jamie Schmidtke – Social Worker

Megan Madson – Special Education

To Be Hired – EL (Kindergarten)

Changes within the building are as follows:

Rebecca Ludzack will be moving from EL in KG to 1st grade.

New support staff to our building include:

Robert Shaw, who is replacing Kim Vlasak. Robert’s supervising teacher is Kathy Blixt.

Kelli Wencl, who is replacing Joy Zimmerman. Kelli’s supervising teacher is Megan Madson.

Tim Thompson, who replaced Cliff Manson, as our Building Head Custodian.

The schedule for the welcome back workshop days is posted online. Please note that the Jefferson all staff meeting has been scheduled for Monday from 1:15-3:30. We will meet in the Media Center. Also, you should have received two emails about the before school mandatory trainings. There will be some time on August 29thto do the training. The training should be completed by Tuesday, September 6th.

Open House for students and their families had been scheduled for Thursday, September 1st from 5:00-6:00 p.m. You may wish to include this information in your communication to parents/students if you are in touch with them before the Open House. We did send out an open house postcard with information, including classroom teacher, to our families in hopes of alleviating some of the congestion during open house.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you and working together to make this school year the best ever for all students and staff at Jefferson!

Sincerely,

Jennifer
