Greeting Team Guidelines

Welcome to the Frontlines Greeting Team and thank you for serving the body! This manual is designed to prepare you for greeting, answer any questions you may have as well as to communicate the heart behind Watermark policies. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Vision ForGreeters:

  • Romans 15:7, “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
  • The Greeter Team exists to be a first impression of Jesus Christ as individuals are being welcomed into the church. Our hope is that Greeters would view themselves as much more than an individual saying “hello” or handing out a Watermark News, but that they would see themselves as someone who is able to welcome others because Jesus Christ has welcomed them.
  • As you welcome others, remember that God calls all Christians to be His ministers of reconciliation so that we can demonstrate His relentless love to a world that either may not know him, or may simply need to be encouraged and reminded of him.
  • A Greeter is first and foremost a minister of the Gospel. As such, never feel that you must remain at your spot if you see someone in need, or if you feel the tug of the Holy Spirit spurring you to engage with someone. You are encouraged to leave your post in order to fulfill God’s larger purpose.
  • We pray that from a heart that overflows with the love of Christ you assist us in welcoming others to know our Savior.

Notes:

  • Inside Door Greeters – Hand out Watermark News
  • After the third song, the Ushers will close the lower level doors to the Worship Center. At this time, direct guests upstairs. If they would like to sit downstairs because they have someone holding a seat for them or are handicapped, let them know that the Ushers just inside the doors will be able to assist them.
  • Upstairs doors will be open throughout the service.
  • Outside Door Greeters – Welcome folks into the building for worship and help them find where they need to go.
  • Communication – If you have a question, please ask your Greeter Captain. If he or she doesn’t know the answer, they will then ask the Frontlines Director (John Almquist) or the Frontlines Assistant (Liz Brock)
  • Community Rooms – There are two large Community Rooms on the north and south ends of the Worship Center for those who would like to watch the service on a projector. This is a great spot for families with infants and toddlers, or those with injuries that prevent them from sitting comfortably in the Worship Center.
  • Attire – As you know, attire at Watermark is pretty casual, but please remember that you are not only representing Watermark, but more importantly, Christ. Specifically to the ladies, Paul reminds us that the Lord calls us to be modest. I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. I Timothy 2:9-10. Please be respectful of this command while you are serving.

We are so thankful for each and every one of you and for your heart for service. It is such a blessing to serve alongside you and I look forward to getting to know you in the coming weeks.

In Him,

Liz Brock

Frontlines Assistant

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. I Peter 4:10 – 11
