Model Bridge, design by Jens Juul Eilersen

Ultra modular floater

with classical undertones

Exceptional modularity is one of the defining characteristics of Jens Juul Eilersen's sofas. Bridge is no exception. Variety reaches new heights, whilst at the same time setting a classic tone with its tight lines, thin seat cushion and concealed seat gradient.

"Classic, tight lines create a sense of rest. It's pleasing to look at, and creates a lasting impression that never goes out of style. Bridge has inherited all the proud qualities of the traditional floater sofa, along with discrete, classic flair to keep it modern. One special feature is that the sofa can easily glide across the floor on its low-profile, 2 cm legs. This presented both a design challenge and the inspiration for the name Bridge. A sofa without legs is subject to kicks and marking from shoes. So I designed a recess to take the lower edge out of the danger zone of kicks and bumps. And it was this very recess that made the sofa resemble a bridge", explains Eilersen.

Configure your very own sofa

The point of a sectional sofa is that it should be flexible so it can be expanded and reconfigured as needed. Bridge brings another degree to this flexibility. "Bridge is quite simply an unlimited universe. Its fixed sofas. Its end pieces and middle sections with both short and long backs. Its footrests. All available in various standard widths, and naturally one can freely add bolster pillows and down throw cushions in a range of sizes. Arms and backs have the same profile, which means that sofas and end pieces can be turned into corners. And for highly specialised situations, it's possible to have your Bridge components custom-made to personal sizes."

Jens Juul Eilersen

Has since the mid-1960s been responsible for the design developments at N. Eilersen A/S. Jens Juul Eilersen has no theoretical training – but is interested and has a fantastic talent. All his sofas are created in accordance with classic geometric proportions, guaranteeing balance and harmony in terms of both function and expression. Jens Juul Eilersen has, among other things, created one of Eilersen´s biggest sellers, the CONTROL lounge chair, which after being on the market for 30 years can rightly be called a classic. Jens Juul Eilersen has always had a nose for the innovative and has produced and patented a number of his creative designs.
