Fundraising Co-ordinator – Fixed Term Contract

Accountable to: Head of Fundraising

RESPONSIBLE FOR: The implementation and development of key Hospice-led project plans

Contract: The post is 35 hours per week

Salary: £17,530.64 - £21,201.60

Job Purpose:

To be a key member of the Fundraising Department, working closely with the Fundraising Manager, supporting them in their work and reporting to them. Under the direction of the Fundraising Manager, to undertake the responsibility for the planning, organisation, delivery and development of the key initiatives and projects and to support the Fundraising Manager in the delivery of key projects. To retain existing relationships and forge new links with other third party organisations and businesses to maintain their support to the Hospice and to solicit their participation in key projects. To ensure a regular flow of income to achieve an agreed annual target through the planning, co-ordination and development of projects, events and partnerships. To contribute to the dissemination and evaluation of the projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising

·  Under the direction of the Fundraising Manager to be responsible for the planning, organisation, delivery and development of Hospice-led key initiatives, campaigns and projects and to support those organised by the Fundraising Manager.

·  To pro-actively develop and retain established links with third parties such as Schools, Places of Worship, Local Government Departments, Businesses and Organisations, liaising closely with other members of the Fundraising Team to ensure co-ordination and maximum income generation.

·  Identify the many local groups and communities who might be interested to become involved in these projects and approach them individually to introduce them to the projects and invite their involvement.

·  To draw on existing connections and intelligence on the part of the hospice in relation to these groups and communities and other local stakeholders who may wish to be involved.

·  To actively source new members of community groups and expand contact with existing faith group and new faith groups of all denominations.

·  To organise a community driven ‘U’ Together event to engage with the local community.

·  Under the direction of the Fundraising Manager, to co-ordinate, deliver and support the development of the Schools campaign, discussing and recommending enhancements and new initiatives with the Fundraising Manager.

·  To liaise with business supporters, and to implement a winter LBP-targeted campaign under the direction of the Fundraising Manager.

·  To liaise with Faith Groups in the Light Up a Life campaign.

·  Under the direction of the Fundraising Manager, to plan and co-ordinate and develop new fundraising initiatives relating to community groups, liaising with the Fundraising Team members and other Hospice Departments.

·  To act as a point of contact for incoming fundraising offers of support relating to Hospice-led key initiatives and campaigns. To direct these offers to the Fundraising Manager to assess these requests; to meet with individuals businesses and groups, where appropriate and work closely with the other members of the Fundraising Team to ensure these contacts are developed to their full potential.

·  To monitor the financial results of Hospice-led initiatives against the targets previously agreed with the Fundraising Manager and to provide reports relating to participation, financial results, evaluations and feedback to the Fundraising Manager.

·  To encourage volunteers to assist and support all initiatives led or supported by the Hospice.

·  To ensure the Fundraising Assistant receives accurate information which can be recorded on the database.

·  To ensure all campaigns and events are conducted within the agreed expenditure budgets.

·  In conjunction with other members of the fundraising team, to participate as required in media contact, public speaking, presentations and campaigns.

·  To provide support to the Fundraising Manager in the delivery of Hospice-led events and projects as required.

·  To promote all Hospice-led and Hospice-supported campaigns and events liaising with, and providing detailed information to the graphic design provider, public relations consultant, website manager and retail outlets to ensure maximum exposure and press coverage.

·  To provide the public relations consultant with detailed electronic reports, quotes and photographs as appropriate, following all Hospice-led events, adhering to strict deadlines and legal requirements in order to gain maximum publicity.

·  To receive donations in the Fundraising Office in the absence of the administration team.

·  To demonstrate clear understanding of the Hospices services, aims and objectives in order to facilitate clear communication of these to potential supporters.

Professional

·  To contribute to the overall fundraising strategy and implement.

·  To meet bi-weekly with Fundraising Team to address progress against agreed targets.

·  To contribute to the development of the Business Plan, Schools initiative, Community Groups Campaign and the overall strategic plans.

·  To participate in regular Fundraising Volunteer Meetings.

·  To attend and deliver Fundraising presentations to supporters, as requested.

·  To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required of this post holder under the direction of the Head of Fundraising or Fundraising Manager.

·  To adhere to Hospice policies and guidelines.

·  To participate in raising the profile of the Hospice in the professional arena by attending meetings, forums and other outside events as appropriate.

·  This role involves out of hours working and a willingness to work flexibly is required.

Training and Development Team

·  To meet regularly as a team to share best practice with colleagues, especially in relation

to new approaches to work.

·  To be a team player in a dynamic and evolving Fundraising Department.

·  To actively contribute and suggest on how changes could be made to improve the work

load if necessary.

·  To provide continuity of service in respect of colleagues being on annual leave, sick

leave, etc.

·  To actively look for new opportunities and areas for self development using the Hospice annual performance review system to ensure skills are kept relevant and up to date.

·  To develop effective relationships with colleagues and be aware of personal style.

·  To attend appropriate meetings and mandatory training events.

·  To actively contribute to and take part in any quality measuring systems that the Hospice may put in place with regard to the area of your expertise.

·  Under the guidance of the Fundraising Manager be aware of the need to ensure that all policies and procedures relating to the Fundraising area are up to date and relevant.

·  The post holder will adhere to Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice Policies and Procedures.

·  To actively promote the Hospice.

·  The post holder must at all times respect confidentiality and in particular the confidentiality of all personal data stored, in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

·  The post holder must be aware of and adhere to individual responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Identify and report, as necessary, any untoward accident, incident or potentially hazardous environment.

·  The post holder may be required to work in and from any Hospice or associated Company premises.
