REGIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER – Taylorsville, MS

Responsibilities:

The Regional Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for providing technical H&S support for assigned regional facilities in Mississippi and Georgia to assist with understanding and the implementation of the annual Georgia-Pacific Chemicals LLC's H&S compliance plan elements, as well as support the ongoing maintenance of required regulatory and company H&S and chemical process safety policies.
Based at the Taylorsville Chemical Facility, the Regional Health and Safety Manager will work with facility management and employees to maintain the plant's H&S programs, including Asbestos, Behavior-Based Safety, Blood Borne Pathogens, Industrial Hygiene, Respiratory Protection, Incident Reporting, Hazard Communication, Lead Paint, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Safe Work Practices, Emergency Response and other safety policies and programs. Develop CPS coordinator role by increasing participation and responsibility in PHA's with goal of having the CPS coordinator facilitate the smaller PHA's when they are capable with review and approval by RHSM. Promote development of ownership of the safety program at the operator level and assist CPS coordinator and plant manager in the development of these resources (Safety Committee, sub-committee's, work teams). Ensure facility has a clear understanding of CPS and Compliance standard implementation goals and goals are correctly reflected on the facilities FSAP. Conduct and administrate IH monitoring to support EEAP through out 2008. Support BU IH efforts by reviewing facility EEAP and exposure analysis as needed. Develop BU Safety Policies by translating and adapting Corporate Compliance Standards into current Policies to ensure compliance in the BU as scheduled by Manager H&S Chemicals. Support the BBS process by providing processes learned in corporate BBS conference course and BBS conference and encouraging there use. Support FSAP process and activities by attending meetings, following progress, review and confirmation of plan, and timely response to technical questions.
Education:

BS in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering or Safety Management
Basic Qualifications:

BS in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering or Safety Management. Minimum 3 years of experience in safety to include training, chemical process safety and OSHA/EPA PSM. Must be willing to travel up to 50%. Candidates must have PSM experience.
Knowledge - Skills – Abilities:

General background in health and safety for chemical plants with working knowledge of PSM and CPS, behavior based safety, industrial hygiene, and medical surveillance. Strong verbal and written communications skills; Interpersonal skills; Incident investigation and problem solving skills; Coordination/facilitation/planning skills; Technical procedure and report writing skills; Technical training/understanding; Ability to work across a wide group of production assets; Good organization/attention to detail
