Teacher Goal Setting

2011-2012

August - Student outcome goals

September - Professional learning goals

Purpose:

Your annual goal-setting process allows you and your coach to agree on individualized student achievement outcomes and professional learning goals for the year. You may also choose to set personal priorities and goals. By engaging deeply in this process in August and September, you will understand your goals and be able to track your progress throughout the year. It also lays the groundwork for on-going conversations, feedback and support. Having clear goals will allow you and your coach to strategize the best approach to meeting these goals. Ultimately, clear goals will help you develop and grow as a professional and will help our scholars achieve.

Mid-year, you and your coach will meet for a check-in on your progress. At that point you will return to these goals, reflect and receive feedback from your coach. This process provides a mid-year touch-point and a chance for you to revise tactics and professional learning goals – also known as your personal learning plan – as you move into the second part of the school year. This conversation is also a forum for you and your coach to reflect on Teacher Career Pathway lesson observation data from the first part of the year.

Process Steps:

·  Coaches meet with each teacher to review the timeline for the annual goal-setting and review process.

·  Coaches and teachers create goals for the year.

o  Student outcome goals (August)

o  Teacher professional learning goals (September)

o  Personal goals (optional)

·  By the end of September, all goals must be finalized. Both the teacher and the coach should retain a final copy. Please make sure an extra copy is filed in the Teacher Career Pathway folder at your school and is emailed to .
