SHOW RULES 2007 - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Full Payment due before ring numbers will be issued. – All NSF cheques will be charged a $25 fee.
HUNT SEAT EQUITATION DIV: Class 1-5, 11
Juniors may show ponies. Riders to be judged on equitation. No patterns
HACK DIVISION: No breastplates, whips, martingales, flash or drop nosebands, boots or bandages of any kind. Classes 6-10: Shown at flat footed walk, normal trot, easy canter; not to gallop; light contact with horse's mouth; judged on manners, performance, conformation.
Classes13-18, restricted - no saddlesuits, no kentucky jodhpurs, and no saddle seat tack. Shown on light to medium contact at walk, normal & strong trot, canter & controlled hand gallop.
SHOW HACK: Restricted - no saddlesuits, no kentucky jodhpurs, no saddle seat tack. Shown both ways of the ring on light to medium contact at collected, regular and extended gaits (walk, trot, and canter) & controlled hand gallop.
HUNTER DIVISIONS: Hunter Under Saddle classes must complete course in one O/F class in respective division. Shown at walk, trot, canter, both ways of ring on light contact may be asked to hand gallop. Distances will not be adjusted for ponies.
INTRO HUNTER (Max 22 inches): Classes 23, 24 & 27. Open to Jr. & Sr. riders, horses & ponies. Course to be posted. Shown at canter over course of 8-10 verticals & small oxers no higher than 22”. Fences may be approached in either a trot or canter. Emphasis will be placed on: 1/ horses ridden in a safe, 2/ controlled manner, a correct & effective path to & away from the fences, 3/ jumping style.
BEGINNER HUNTER (Max 2'6"): Classes 25,26 & 28. Open to Jr. & Sr. riders, horses & A ponies. Course to be posted. Shown at canter over course of 8-10 fences.
LOW HUNTER (Max 2'9”): Class 29-31. Open to Jr. & Sr. riders, horses and ponies. Course to be posted. Shown at canter over a course of 8-10 fences.
JUMPER CLASSES- class 32,33 See Equine Canada Jumper rules. Open to horses & ponies. Standing martingales & draw reins secured at the neck are allowed in the miscellaneous Jump classes. G603. These classes are being offered to encourage participation in the Jumper discipline.
HUNTER HACK- shown at walk, trot, & canter. Will be asked to jump 2 jumps cross rail to a vertical not to exceed 2,6”
SHAPLEY’S GROOM CLASS: Horses & ponies are to be shown by the groom (mother,father,rider,etc…)
Judged 100% on the best turned out horse. Prizes-Up to $300 worth of grooming products.
NOVICE DIVISION: Open to both junior & senior riders who are novice or on a green horse or pony. A novice is a horse or rider that is in their 1st 2 years of showing. ON YOUR HONOR. Not eligible for Junior or senior but can show in the open classes.
SHOWMANSHIP DIVISION: Class 38-40. Jr. may show horse or pony. Pattern to be posted.
HORSEMANSHIP DIVISION: Class 42-45. Juniors may show horse or pony. PATTERNS WILL BE POSTED. Riders to be judged on equitation.
WESTERN PLEASURE DIV: Class 46-49,52,53. Judged at walk ,jog, lope & reinback. Horses over 5 yrs must show in a shank bit one handed. No twisted wire bits, no ports over 3 1/2”, & no shanks longer than 8 1/2” from top to bottom. Emphasis on manners & performance. Class 52 horse must be 5 yrs. of age or under & may be shown in a snaffle bit or bosal.
MARITIME BRED : Open to horses/ponies bred & foaled in Maritimes. Enclose a copy of certificate with entry. Judged at walk, jog/trot, & lope/canter. May be stripped. Judged 40% performance, 60% conformation.
OPEN WESTERN RIDING: Pattern to be posted. Open to Jr. & Sr. Riders, horses/ponies.
TRAIL: Pattern to be posted.
REINING CLASSES: Patterns to be posted. Open to Jr. & Sr. Riders, horse/pony. Green horses 5 yrs. & under may be shown in a snaffle bit & may ride 2 handed.
COMMAND CLASS: Judged on an elimination basis. Juniors may ride ponies. .
GYMKANA DIV: Classes 62-71. Youth & Juniors may ride ponies. No excessive use of whips, crops, & over & unders. It is strongly recommended that all riders where a helmet. 18 & under MUST wear a helmet.
OPEN BARRELS & OPEN POLES CLASSES: open to all horse and rider combinations.
STAKE CLASSES: PRIZE MONEY: 1st Place-40% / 2nd Place-25% / 3rd Place-20% / 4th Place-10% / 5th Place-5%/ Entry- $15.00, 1st place receives a chair. Western Pleasure & Pony Rd. Hack Stake have prizes to 6th place with value up to $300.
REGULAR CLASSES : Ribbons to 6th place and prizes
1st-40% / 2nd-25% / 3rd-20% / 4th-10% / 5th-5%
WALK/TROT: open to green horses or green riders of all ages.
DRILL TEAM COMPETITION- Entry $6 per team member & one administration fee per team if competing in any other classes each team member must fill in an entry form per horse & rider and pay their administration fee. $100 prize money to 1st place team & trophy. If only one team enters then entry will be refunded and it will only be a demonstration. Please bring your own music with player.
SPRINGBROOK STABLES
SHOW INFORMATION 2007
1. The show will be held August 11th & 12th, 2007 at Spring Brook Stables, home of Maritime Saddle & Tack. This show will be held rain or shine. For more information call Michelle Cox at 372-4006.
2. Judge’s decision is final.
3. The Spring Brook Stables show committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.
4. Entry Fees $6.00 for all regular classes, $15 for Stake Classes. Entry Fees will not be refunded without a physician’s or veterinarian’s certificate (this refund will be 75% of class fees). Coolers will be presented for the following divisions: Junior & Senior English Performance Champion / Junior & Senior Western Performance / Novice Champion English & Western/ High Pt. Pony Gymkana / Agility /Intro Hunter / Beg. Hunter / Low Hunter. Horse & Riders must be present for presentations in full show attire or it will be considered a forfeit & will go to the next exhibitor.
5. Horses must be shown by the same exhibitor in all qualifying classes in order for points to count. The judge will break ties for Champion.
6. Show Committee may cancel classes with less than 3 entries.
7. All riders 18 yrs of age & under (English & Western) and anyone riding over fences must wear a helmet with an attached harness while on your horse and on the grounds. These helmets must meet the standards of the American Society of Testing Materials and display the SEI seal. The ASTM and British BSI are also acceptable. It is strongly recommended that ALL Senior western exhibitors in speed events wear protective headgear! While mounted, all riders must wear their ring number. Horses are to be ridden in the warm up ring ONLY, no trotting horses in the driveway.
8. Limited overnight stabling is available on the premises. Room is available for overnight tenting. If stabling in the barn PLEASE make sure to clean your stalls before leaving (stripping is not necessary) & keep your tack area clean & tidy throughout the day! Brooms are available in the barn, do not leave the stall area unswept while showing. The barn and tack room is off limits to visitors. Please use the garbage containers provided on the grounds.
9. Stalls are rented to those traveling from out of town first & then will be available for local accommodations. We require that you be out of the stall by 6 pm to allow the next competitor in. Prices per day - Box stall $25, Straight stall $15.
10. Canteen on site – hamburgers, hot dogs, Kurt’s Sausages, chili, subs, salads, pop, tea, coffee, snacks, Brother’s bakery…YUMMY!!
11. It is MANDATORY that all horses have rabies, tetanus, influenza! (Strangles, Rhino and West Nile are optional but strongly suggested). Anyone stabling in the barn must be inoculated for strangles & Rhino, please provide a copy with your entry if stabling on the grounds. You must show proof with a veterinarian's certificate upon arrival at the show. You will be asked to leave if you do not have proof of shots!
12. Complaints must be made in writing, signed and accompanied by a $100 deposit within 48 hrs of completion of the class, Equine Canada Article A1206.
13. First Aid will be located in the show office tent in case of any emergencies. Dr. Richard Dumais and Dr. Tony Bond on site.
14. Anyone who shows any disrespect or misconduct towards horses and or others at the show will be asked to leave the grounds and will lose their entry fees.
15. All riders showing horses at the show must be a NBEA member, NO TEMP MEMBERSHIPS WILL BE SOLD.
16. We MUST receive your paid entry form by August 3rd, 2007. ANY LATE ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER MIDNIGHT AUG.3rd, 2007 will pay a late entry fee of $25.00 per horse! THIS WILL BE STRONGLY ENFORCED!
17. All classes will be awarded ribbons to 6th place & either prize money or prizes to 6th place.
18. This show is a NBEA Heritage show sponsored by Spring Brook Stables and will be following Equine Canada Rules as an Equine Canada primary show.
19. NBEA is requiring us to charge a $5.00 fee per horse for random drug testing. Fees do not apply to children under 10yrs. of age & competitors who only show in halter.
20. The announcer’s opinions are not necessarily the opinions of the Judges or the Spring Brook Stables show organizers. As item 2 states, the Judge’s decision is final.
21. For safety reasons, there will be no spectators or coaches allowed at the in/out gate of the arena.
22. Class entries will close 3 classes before that class begins. There will be no exceptions.
23. There must be a separate entry form for each horse/rider combination. NO EXCEPTIONS.
24. ANY CHEQUES POST DATED WILL BE CONSIDERED A LATE ENTRY,
25. With all the increases in costs of holding a show we ask that you PLEASE RETURN YOUR SHOW NUMBERS before leaving the premises. THANK-YOU! Last year many of our numbers were not returned, therefore any rider that DOES NOT RETURN THEIR NUMBER this year and registers next year at our show the numbers will be checked and they will be charged a $5.00 fee before they can pick up their show packages!
26. Ages for this competition will be the age of the rider as of Jan.1, 2007.
