BRADFORD BEER FESTIVAL 2017VOLUNTEER STAFFING FORM

Please use ONE form per person. Please also read the guidance notes attached for further details.

Bradford Beer Festival will be open from 23rd – 25th February 2017 at the Victoria Hall in the UNESCO listed World Heritage village of Saltaire, Shipley. The address is Victoria Road, Saltaire, Shipley, BD18 3JS

The Festival relies entirely on volunteers to organise and staff the event. We need over 100 volunteers to ensure that all sessions are covered, including the setup and takedown. Setup for the event starts on the afternoon of Sunday 19th February and continues until lunchtime on Thursday 23rd February. The takedown day is Sunday 26th February from 10.00am till mid-afternoon. You can volunteer for just one session or the whole festival (some people do!) but we value ALL volunteers who give their time and effort.

Volunteering at the Festival is not just hard work – we hope it will be fun too. It is our aim to make your volunteering experience as enjoyable as possible. We will try to match your preference for type of role - we will ensure you have sufficient breaks for meals – you will receive a staff T-shirt and staff beer or cider. Food is available to staff at a discounted rate during festival opening times - if you work at the late evening session we shall pay for your taxi home – you will be invited to the volunteer party / awards event (details overleaf) following the Festival.

BRADFORD BEER FESTIVAL 2017

VOLUNTEER FORM GUIDANCE

  1. Contact details

Basic information required here, the name you wish to be known by, and address, so that further details can be sent directly to you. This happens roughly 14 days before the event. Please give your postcode and include a telephone number if possible. All volunteers must be CAMRA (or EBCU equivalent) please include your membership number on the form. Please include your local CAMRA branch if known as this helps with statistics later.

  1. Work preferences

This part of the form is about you; information given here will guide the Volunteers’ team when allocating roles at the festival.

The first question, have you volunteered forBradford Beer Festival before is so we know if you know what to expect! Nothing sinister about knowing your age we have volunteers aged 18 to well into their 70’s, but obviously it helps to know before allocating jobs which may be inappropriate. At our Festival there are many more roles than just helping behind the bar! If you have experience or skills in other areas you may just be the solution to one of the many problems that crop up. Examples of useful skills are Glasses, Retail experience, Stewarding, Electrician, First Aid, etc.

PLEASE NOTE You are volunteering to help at the festival, it is an unpaid temporary position, and you do not need to wait to hear if you have been accepted. Assume your offer to help has been accepted unless you are told otherwise. We do reserve the right to reject offers.

  1. Medical conditions

To protect you, we do not want you to do anything, which would be harmful, so please list any medical problems that may be aggravated by any of the tasks required at the beer festival. We have a First Aider on site at all times and if your condition is more serious, we will advise them of it in case of emergency. The information provided will be treated in confidence. The information may be used in the case of a medical emergency where you may require treatment from first aiders or paramedics. We won’t share this information unless required. The information will only be used in relation to your volunteer role at the Bradford Beer Festival and will not be kept after the event.

  1. Work times and breaks

If you can only manage a couple of hours please try to indicate the times you are available to work on the grid, your help will be most welcome. On days when the festival is open to the public (shaded blocks from Thursday – Saturday) the volunteering time should be concentrated around these opening hours. We suggest you mark these sessions as solid volunteeredtime, breaks should be arranged with the manager of the section you are working on a daily basis.

8. Acknowledgement of form

Postal receipt of your form will not be acknowledged unless specifically asked for. All volunteers whose forms are received will be sent fuller details to be posted out in mid-February 2017; this will includesafety requirements etc. If you do not receive a pack then please e-mail or phone (01274 778424 – leave a message if there is no answer please), it could be that it has been delayed / lost in the post or more importantly it could mean that we did not receive your form in the first place.

9.Limited Edition Staff T-Shirt

The will be a limited edition staff t-shirt available to Bradford Beer Festival volunteers only. To ensure you reserve your correct size, please return this form by 1st Feb 2017. Anyone after that time will have to take pot luck, with the bulk being made up of XL only.

10.Agreement to work to Hygiene and Health & Safety guidelines

Please sign and date the form to confirm that you will read the Volunteers’ and Health & Safety guidelines before you commence your duties.
