MPH Agriculture is a privately owned agribusiness focused on sustainable crop production, particularly irrigated production systems.MPH formerly owned and operated Madowla Park (Echuca) which is one of the largest irrigated cropping enterprises in Victoria, comprising 1,500 ha of laser leveled irrigation land and 2,200 ha of dryland cropping.

The MPH business at Werribee is based around developing a large scale winter and summer crop production and pasture enterprise on the 5,000 ha site using the available supply of recycled water (20,000 Mgl).This is a particularly challenging and exciting business and MPH is determined to develop a sustainable future for the farm at Werribee and transform the property into a respected showpiece of environmentally sensitive agricultural practices that protects and improves the site's renowned biodiversity and conservation values.

MPH Agriculture are offering a scholarship designed to help build the skills base of the Australian agricultural industry. This scholarship is available to school leavers undertaking vocational education and training coursesin Agriculture at Longerenong College under the Rural Production Training Package.

  1. Type of Award and Eligibility

One scholarship of $5,000is available for 2016. The recipient must be enrolled in a full-time training course at Longerenong College in 2017.

The award will be paid to Longerenong College to offset fees and charges from the College and will be credited to the successful recipient in two instalments of $2,500 each – the first during Semester 1, 2016 and the second at the commencement of Semester 2, 2017.

The recipient of the award may also be provided with the opportunity to complete all or part of industry placement MPH Agriculture.

  1. Selection Criteria

Scholarships will be awarded on merit.Preference is given to applicants who:

  • Enrolling in a full-time training course
  • Indicate an understanding of the knowledge and skills that will be required for a successful career in agriculture.

The scholarship is subject to the applicant’s acceptance at Longerenong College to undertake training for a qualification within the Rural Production Training Package. Those qualifications include Certificate IV in Agriculture and Advanced Diploma of Agriculture. The College advises that the successful recipient’s name and photograph may also be published in the College and non-College material including student magazine, media and sponsor newsletters.
