You should be reading every night!Remember to read every night for at least 20mins – reading can be a magazine article, a newspaper article, information on a website, a book or a chapter of a book. FILL IN YOUR READING JOURNAL NIGHTLY!!
Maths
You should also be working on your multiplication facts regularly – for Grade 5/6 students; you need to know all your facts to the 12s. They will provide a really solid foundation for working on other mathematical concepts. The best way is to have someone test you on them in a random order.

Spelling
The aim for Grade 5/6 students is to know all their spelling benchmark words by the end of the year. It is also expected you learn your weekly spelling words in preparation for your spelling test on Friday. Good ways to do this is LSCWC and having someone at home quiz you.
Get a parent or carer to sign in each box as you complete each task – remember to complete the task in your homework book, by email, or in Google Drive. You are to complete AT LEAST one task per week!
Write an information report about a political party in Australia. You will need to research the information/ Find a newspaper article about the Australian Government.(or get it off the internet and print). Write 8 questions that are answered in the text.
/ Write a letter to your local member of Parliament. What would you ask for? What would you thank them for?
! / Visit the class blog. Write a paragraph (4-6 sentences minimum) on the ‘Discovering Democracy’ page describing what you have learnt in class this week
/ Research the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Write a page about what you have learnt.
Create a graph of your choice showing the main backgrounds of people in Australia.
/ Imagine you are Prime Minister. What new laws would you introduce to Australia and why?
/ Write a movie review for a G or PG rated movie that you’ve seen recently (125words).
