Iready ELA Interactive Lesson for Supporting Skills – Key Details
We will be covering the following pages in the ELA Ready Common Core Book
Lesson 6.
Mon.- pg. 51 – TSW look at a cartoon and learn what questions they could ask about it and circle key details in response. They will write a question that can be answered by a detail in the cartoon.
Tues.- pg. 52-53 – TSW read a story about a brother and sister and then use story details to answer a question.
Wed.- pgs. 54-55 – TSW read the story “The Climb” twice. TTW ask three questions to check their comprehension of the story.
Science: “Worms in Dirt” following directions activity
Thurs.- pgs. 56-58 – TSW independently read a longer adventure story and answer questions in a format that provides test practice.
Science: characteristics of possums, look at pictures/watch a video of possums
Fri. – Interim assessment
Homework / Monday homework is given to each student. It is due on Friday. The homework will focus on language, reading, spelling, and math skills from the lessons taught during the week.
Vocabulary / 1. screech- a loud, high-pitched sound
2. stranded- left somewhere with no way to get anywhere else
3. gallop- to ride at full speed
4. seaside- land along the sea
5. rescue- save someone from a dangerous situation
Essential Question / How do I locate the key details in a text?
I Can / I can use words such as who, what, where, when, why, and how to show understanding of key details in a text.
Intervention / Some students go to Boost, Mr. Redmond, Ms. Bond, Mr. Allen, and GCMH during this time.
The remaining students stay in the classroom and work on reading/math skills with the teacher/teacher assistant.

L.2.1 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing and speaking.

Lesson 2 and 3.
Mon. – pg. 62-65 – TSW write final drafts of their paragraphs on Helen Keller.
Language- pg. 206- TSW define and identify simple and compound sentences.
Project Read- TTW introduce spelling words. Unit 20, Lesson 3. Skill: words ending in -ed
Social Studies – life of Helen Keller, learning sign language ABC’s
Tues.- pg. 66-67 – TSW identify the purpose and parts of an opinion paragraph. They will analyze the features of a mentor opinion paragraph.
Language- pg. 207- TSW identify/combine simple and compound sentences.
Wed. – pgs. 68-69 – TSW analyze a writing assignment to identify the task, purpose, and audience.
Language- review simple/compound sentences
Thurs. – pgs. 70-72- TSW read and understand a source text. They will locate details to use when writing.
Friday- Weekly spelling test. Language quiz on simple/compound sentences.
