GOSPEL RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP

To encourage a deeper study of the Gospel; Screaming Rock Media offers this competitive gospel research scholarship to Andrews University Seminary.

Masters of Divinity students, who will be graduating in August 2-17, December 2-17, or May 2018, may apply for a scholarship that would be applied towards their final semester expenses.

Screaming Rock Media is a 501 (c) 3 ministry, fully supportive of the church; existing to create deeper understanding God’s message of Justification through Faith as described by Ellen White in testimony to Ministers pages 91-92:

“The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people …This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Savior... It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God…This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel's message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measureThe message of the gospel of His grace was to be given to the church in clear and distinct lines, that the world should no longer say that Seventh-day Adventists talk the law, the law, but do not teach or believe Christ…This is the testimony that must go throughout the length and breadth of the world. It presents the law and the gospel, binding up the two in a perfect whole.

POLICY

Scholarship Funding

Funds available for each year’sscholarship will be determined by donations received for the scholarship fund. Screaming Rock Media’s Board of Directors will establish number, amount and recipients of each year’s scholarship award.

Eligibility

Masters of Divinity students who plan to graduate August 2017, December 2017 or May 2018may apply; Awarded scholarships will be forfinal semester tuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment at Andrews University, as defined under ‘Disbursement and Use’. The student must immediately report any change of circumstances, which could alter their award eligibility.

Scholarship policy, application and research material are available on the Screaming Rock Media Web Siteand may be requested by email. To qualify for consideration, applicant will turn in a signed application andmeet the requirements as described under “Application Requirements” by the deadline dates given. All submitted application materials including sermon and essay are the property of Screaming Rock Media and will not be returned to the applicant. Sermons and final interviews may be published by Screaming Rock Media.

Award Determination Process

Awards will be based on meeting the requirements of this policy; i.e.the applicant’s research, written essay, submitted sermon and final interview.

Financial need is not a consideration in this scholarship, however may be a determining factor in case of a tie.

The Scholarship board will consider each application individually and confidentially prior to making a determination. All applicants are given equal consideration regardless of gender, age, disability, ethnicity or financial status. The Board will consider situations not covered in these policies on an individual basis. The decisions of the Board are final and there is no process of appeal.

POLICY

Declined, Returned or Withdrawn Awards

Screaming Rock Media scholarship grants are gifts, for a specific purpose; if they are used in violation of such, withdrawal/return of the scholarship will result.

Scholarship Grant awards may be revoked for:

  1. Withdrawal, Transfer or change of major
  2. Altered application or providing incorrect information
  3. University disciplinary action deemed by SRM to be adequate cause

Should an award be declined, returned, or withdrawn, the Scholarship funds will be returned to Screaming Rock Media’s Scholarship fund. Available scholarships that remain un-awarded will remain in the fund.

Award Announcement

All applicants, recipients and the university are notified by email by May31, 2015. Public announcement of awards are made as soon as possible after notification is sent to the recipients. The Corporations website, newsletter, Union publications and other such publications are the primary means for public announcement. Each recipient’s name is typically published with his or her photograph.

Disbursement and Use

Screaming Rock Media will make award disbursement directly to Andrews University, naming the recipient’s account as beneficiary. Award payments are applied to recipients’ final semestertuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment; per Internal Revenue Code section 117 and other applicable regulations.

Application Requirements

Awards are based on meeting the requirements of this policy; i.e. the depth of applicant’s research, written essay, submitted sermon and final interview.

  1. As taught by James and Ellen White, A.T. Jones and E.J. Waggoner
  2. The significance to the contemporary church and our need to fully embrace this gospel message; proclaiming the Everlasting Gospel of Revelation 14:12; the third angels message.
  3. Ellen White’s relationship to the leadership and the ministers on both sides of the issue during 1887 to 1901.

  2. Complete essayin research format with bibliography, based on your research and conclusions.Be clear and concise and provide approximately 1 page or less each on:
  3. The Biblical theology of Justification through Faith.
  4. This Gospel as understood by E.G.W, E.J Waggoner, and A.T Jones.

  6. The history of the message in our church.
  7. The importance ofemphasizing this message, based on scripture, inspiration, and personal opinion.

  1. Schedule your sermon well in advance and notify usby emailwhen you know the date and location of your scheduled sermon. We will provide you with the information to upload it to our YouTube account for viewing by judges.

It will be applied to my final semester tuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment.

It shall be subject to the provisions of Section 117(a) and is to be used for study at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary located at Andrews University as described in this policy and in Section 151(e)(4), of the Internal Revenue Code.

I am under no obligation to repay the Scholarship Grant to Screaming Rock Media, but may make donations at any time to further the mission and purpose of the Corporation.

All application materials submitted are the property of Screaming Rock Media and will not be returned. Submitted sermons, essay, and interview may be published by Screaming Rock Media.

Scholarship Grant awards may be revoked for:
