General Show Information

Drivers’ Meeting: We will be addressing the crowd from the Main Stage at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday evening, June 11. Please join us as we hold the ONLY drivers’ meeting of the 2016 Power Tour. The meeting is not mandatory, but we highly recommend you attend.

Event Hours (Cruise Nights):Saturday, June 11, Kickoff:9:00 am to 7:00 pm

Sunday thru Thursday:12:00 noon to 7:00 pm

Friday, June 17, Grand Finale:12:00 noon to 8:00 pm

No participants will be allowed into the Cruise Night area before the above noted start hour.

What goes on at the Cruise Nights?: Each cruise night you’ll see 1,000 to 3,000 local cars that have shown up to visit the Power Tour cars. There will be manufacturers set up showing off their latest parts and cars, autograph sessions with celebrities, giveaways at the main stage, and photo shoots with HOT ROD magazine and HOTROD.com. There will be an autocross sponsored by Mothers Polish on June 11 at Lamar Dixon Expo Center, drag racing fun runs on the June 12 stop at Royal Purple Raceway, on June 13 there will be autocross sponsored by American Racing at Circuit of the Americas, and each day the Lucas Oil Dyno Challenge will be available for a fee to participants. Make the most of each Cruise Night on Hot Rod Power Tour, and please be sure to thank your Cruise Night Sponsors. Enjoy what each day has to offer.

Autocross information: Visual safety inspection of participant vehicle before running the course (includes making sure tires are not bald and car is not leaking any fluids). Helmets are not required.

Royal Purple Drag Race Fun Run information: Helmets will be required for anyone exceeding 13.99 in the quarter mile.Must bring own helmet. No rentals available.

Doing the Long Haul?: If you plan to travel the entire Power Tour route as a Long Hauler, you are required to have your LONG HAULER credential time stamped each day of the tour starting on June 11 at Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, LA. Time stamp machines will be located at the main stage of each day’s venue. Long Haulers MUST pick up their credentials in Gonzales by 6pm, June 11, as registration will close to pack up and head out to Baytown to be ready for set-up on June 12. Participants that do NOT have the LONG HAULER credential and are NOT going to all seven venues do NOT need to stamp their credentials. Again, be sure to remember to time-stamp your Long Hauler credential each day at each venue to certify you as a true Long Hauler!

Directions: Tour directions will be available at well asprinted copies of the AutoZone Pocket Guide (directions/event schedule) will be at registration and at the COMP Cams Main Stage each day. Since we no longer have a morning drivers’ meeting, on the directions we have stated an intersection of where the odometer was tripped. You are not required to officially start at this intersection. If you end up leaving direct from your hotel, you will still be amongst many, many other participants. The directions/route provided is not mandatory. If you want to hit a local landmark, feel free to enjoy tourist attractions! You can jump off the route at any time. Remember, we bring thousands of hot rods onto the local roads. There WILL be traffic jams in the small towns. We can’t avoid traffic unless we have the tour go direct on the highway. But what fun would that be? Doing the Power Tour includes those roads that go through Middle America! Enjoy the scenery and the locals sitting at the side of the road enjoying the hot rods rolling on through! Be sure to wave back!

Construction/Detours/LOST?: It is bound to happen….construction! Always pops up when we least expect it. Follow any posted detours. LOST? You won’t be the first! Even the Hot Rod staff has gotten lost. Consult an old school map, the new school map (smart phone) or pull into a local business for assistance. The locals love to assist!

Gas Stops: There will not be “official” gas stops listed in the driving directions. We do drive many two-lane roads where towns can be anywhere from 20 or 30 miles apart. If you are running low, don’t push it. Get gas in one of the little towns.

Mechanical Problems: Stuff happens when you least expect it or are “in the middle of nowhere.” Join up with another participant, or tour buddy, at your first Cruise Night, exchange cell phone numbers if possible, and keep an eye on each other while driving from one city to the next. IMPORTANT: You are responsible for your own repairs as well as for securing a facility to make repairs. The Tour does not have mechanics driving the route. Past experience has shown that if you do break down, you will not be left alone as many participants are more than willing to lend a hand. This goes both ways. Don’t assume “someone else” will help a stranded fellow participant. Lend a hand if you see a fellow participant in need of assistance.

Daily Coverage: Be sure to check and for Power Tour coverage, updates and any unexpected route changes. Be sure to hashtag your photos! #PowerTour

Inclement Weather: If inclement weather rolls in during event hours, event management will consult with venue officials and follow that venue’s emergency procedures.

Vehicle Change?: Is the vehicle you registered not ready yet or you broke it? Just email by the morning of June 9 with the new vehicle information: Year, Make, Model, Color, License Plate State, Plate Number, Insurance Company and Policy Number. The event team can make the change in the registration system. Otherwise, when you pick up your credentials, please inform the onsite registration staff of the change of vehicles.

Long Hauler® Award Ceremony: The Long Hauler® Award Ceremony will take place FRIDAY, JUNE 17, at the COMP Cams Main Stage beginning at 6:30 pm - Chevrolet PerformanceFinale Presentation, Hot Rod Power Tour Sweepstakes and followed by the Long Hauler Ceremony. Long Haulers will then receive instructions on receiving their Long Hauler Certificate and Long Hauler gift.

Remember to bring your completed LONG HAULER credential / timecard with you to the ceremony.
