Gold Medal SwimCamp

The camp will provide the highest level of instruction, which will enable the campers to fully develop their skills and knowledge of the sport. All aspects of swimming and competition will be covered, thoroughly. The instruction will be geared to assist the beginning competitor, as well as, the most promising junior swimmers. Along with the intensified swim program, a variety of recreational activities, such as dryland will make for an enjoyable, well-rounded experience. We want the campers to be exposed to a quality swim program and to have fun in a warm, friendly atmosphere. The excellent leadership of the staff will enhance each young camper’s opportunity to reach his or her full potential as a competitor.

This is Matt’s fourth year with Gold Medal Swim Camp and his first year running it. Matt was a Division 3 National Champion at Kenyon College in the 100 and 200 Butterfly as well as an Olympic Trials Qualifier in 2008. He has coached at the club, high school and college level for the last 8 years. He is currently coaching the Washington College Men’s and Women’s Swim teams. Throughout his five years of coaching at WAC, he has helped to coach Conference Champions and National B Standards.

Tempo Trainers:

Every camper will receive a Finis Tempo Trainer this year with instruction on how to use it for training. Tempo trainers are used with swim caps which will be provided, and are like metronomes for stroke tempo. We will be exploring stroke rate, pull patterns and kick timing with the tempo trainer in one practice every day to increase stroke efficiency and turnover rate. While tempo trainers are most effective with sprinting, they also will play a role in endurance swimming and help build a stroke for longer-distance events.

This camp is a great

“first time camper” experience.

The Camp features daily sessions with drills and individualized instruction, dry land and conditioning exercises on all levels with a staffof top swimmers and coaches. The week’s experience ends with an exciting meet where the skills learned during the week are put to the test. The meet is scheduled on Thursday before checkout. Parents and families are encouraged to attend and cheer for their swimmer.

Enrollment is limited. Campers will be accepted on a first come-first servedbasis.

✓The low coach to swimmer ratio will allow for personalized attention to eachswimmer.
