Soul Ties 3

God the Father created us in His image: Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Gen1: 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Therefore, we are spirit beings who have a soul (mind, will and emotions) and who live in physical bodies. Our parts cannot be divided without misunderstanding the whole.

We must not let our soul rule us because it will cause you not to allow the real you (spirit) ascend to the front. The soul will always try to be in control that is why it is of the utmost importance to feed our spirit the Word of God. If you allow garbage in, that is what will come out. If the word of God goes in that is what will come out.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. King James Version

3 John 1:2(Amplified Bible

2Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers. Amplified

God wants His people to be free from every bondage and to put off the delusions, snares and all other hindrances of their soul. Ungodly soul ties have kept many from the destinies that God has ordained for them. The ungodly ties have suppressed the eternal purposes of God, and frustrated plans for many believers who want to serve God. Many are hiding behind mask, but behind the mask are hurt, discouragement and broken hearts. The pain is hidden on the outside, but it is very real on the inside. It is time to take off the mask and be free. You may be able to hide it from people, but nothing can be hidden from Father God.

In soul ties one and two we have given definitions of soul tie, but we want everyone to understand what may be going on in their life.

An ungodly soul tie is when the mind, will and emotions of a person becomes entangled to the point where their thoughts are no longer their own. The ungodly soul tie occurs when a person is unnaturally affected by the will, the emotions and desires of another person. You can also be tied to things. When things in your life are keeping you from doing what God has called you to do, it is an ungodly tie. Father God does not want us to hold on to things, because they all belong to Him and if you get to attached to them, you will not hear him telling you to bless someone with it. He wants you to have good things but He does not want things to have you.

Soul ties control your emotions and thinking. You may be able to function and do other things, but when soul tied (glued, knitted together, adhered to) your thoughts are always drawn back to what you are tied to. Have you ever been studying the Bible, but having a difficult time doing so, because your mind kept wondering off to something in you past, or thinking about someone that hurt you? You try real hard to stay focused on what you are doing, but before you realize it you have your thoughts go elsewhere.

Here is an example:

Let’s say you are having a problem with overeating. You love to eat. Your thoughts are always on eating. You love the Lord and desire to learn more about what the Word of God says, but when you start reading the Bible, you start thinking about being hungry and getting something to eat. You continue to read, but you start losing focus because you cannot stop thinking about eating. You are tied to over eating because you keep meditating on it to the point that you quit reading and go eat. Your soul forced you to give in to eating and not studying the Word.

There are two types of Soul ties.

  1. Godly - Having your soul tied to the will of God
  2. Ungodly- having your soul tied outside of the will of God.

God loves us so much and He has a plan for each one of us. When we stay connected to Him and obey His will for our lives it will protect you from becoming tied to Ungodly people or getting caught up in doing ungodly things. He is always speaking to us about our lives through His Word. God the Father has a mission for you.

A Soul tie occurs when you knit your soul to another (knitting means to reduplicate, to become united in association or affection.)

If you start meditating on and attaching your self to things, people and places that is outside of the will of the Father, you start losing control over your own thoughts that the Holy Spirit places in your heart, and the longer this goes on the further you separate your self from the fellowship with the Father. Your spiritual ears become dull to hearing His voice, and when you cannot hear His voice you cannot do what He is prompting you to do. He is always trying to warn of us dangers that are trying to come and He is trying to show you the way of escape. As we can all see that we are in the beginning of some really bad things coming on the earth and the Father is trying to get us all cleaned up from these ties so we can hear Wisdom crying out to us in the streets?

I believe that in the times of disasters that we are seeing now that the Holy Spirit is speaking to people all over the world about what they need to do.

When they had the bombing in England I heard several testimonies of people that was saved because they heard the Holy Spirit. One gentleman had been on one of the buses going to work but was prompted to get off for a cup of coffee and not long after he got off, the bus was bombed. Praise God that He followed that prompting to get off that bus.

I believe that the Holy Spirit has been speaking to many believers about re-locating to another place, but because we do not want to leave our hometown, we do not listen to His voice or we reason with God when we do hear. Many are tied to the place that they grew up. They have friends, relatives, boyfriends, girlfriends, ex-husbands and favorite hangouts and etc. The list could go on. Some of you may have controlling parents that keep you from leaving. If you are married you are to leave your parents to cleave to your spouse. I address this question to husbands that are reading this. Have you cut the soul tie with your mother? Quite often I receive prayer request and special emails from women that talk about husbands that are still tied to their mother and it is causing problems in the marriage. God should be first in our life and if married the spouse is second.

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

If you take the step in faith when the Lord tells you to go somewhere, believe me you will see your walk with the Lord change quickly. I lived in my hometown 50 years, and I was soul tied to many things, and many people. I thank God for His grace on my life during that time. I loved God but I did not have that most intimate relationship with Him, because I did not know how too. I wanted to give up, but God my Father loved me so much that He sent me someone to minister to me all the way from California. This man became my husband. The Lord spoke to us about moving to another location and remember, I had lived there a long time, my family was there, my job was there and I had never really lived anywhere else. That was a big move for me, but I decided that I wanted to give my all to Jesus Christ, so that I could share His love with others. Guess what!! It has been wonderful. The Lord has taught me so much about Himself; I was freed of all those ties and could serve Him. Praise God.

Some of you may be thinking, why would God move you from all your friends, family and what you feel secure in. He does not want you to be secure in the things of the world, because the worldly ways can steal the destiny God has ordained for you. He tells us to be separate from the world. Sometimes our friends and family can be selfish. They do not want you to leave them. They are not thinking about what God wants for you. They only think about what they think is best for you. Is someone in your life keeping you from your destiny?

You will see that through out this teaching I will be giving examples, because I believe that they will help you to see some areas in your life that need to be dealt with. Here is another example.

Did you know that you could be soul tied to television? Are you so preoccupied with television that you cannot hear the Holy Spirit speaking to you? There are many women that stay glued to T.V. watching their favorite soap opera. They will let everything else go to watch that soap. Soap Operas can be very dangerous to watch, because it is a fantasy world. They have affairs, everyone cheats on everyone, and that starts planting seeds in your soul. Before long, your spouse just doesn’t interest you, because you have gotten caught up in the fantasy world. I read this book once that shared on praying and this author who was the pastor gave a prayer request that a lady requested when she came to the altar at his church. She was really upset and told this pastor that this was an urgent prayer. He asked her for the request. She said you have to pray for Susie, please pray for her now. She is going to have this surgery and she could die. I do not want her to die. He asked her who is Susie? She answered and said she is my favorite actress on my soap opera. She was really serious about this. She had become so tied to that soap that her mind thought that it was a reality. Can you see the danger here? If you have a favorite soap opera, do you find yourself thinking or meditating on your favorite actor or actress? If you do you an ungodly soul tie is happening. Cut and sever that tie.

There is another thing I want to mention in regards to TV or movies and that is to warn you of what your children are watching. They believe and get so caught up in what they are seeing; they try to act it out. A lot of little children love Spiderman and they actually believe that they can be like him. If they do watch these types of movies are shows, you must teach them that they are not realistic. Children can become soul tied at a very young age to the things of the world.

1 Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Remember that we have been made in the image of God and His likeness, but if we do not stay focused on walking as His likeness the devil will try to get us to follow some other image and we will become like the image are likeness we follow after.

There are many people that want to do the will of God and desire to have a deeper relationship with Him, however at the same time they do not want to let go of the people, places or things that are tied to their deepest emotions.

If soul ties are not dealt with they can cause your heart to harden. You will start justifying them and turn away from the Word of God or when you hear the Word, you start only hearing what fits into the mold of the soul tie instead of the truth.

The devils job is to try and steal your soul (mind, will and emotion) and if he can help you stay tied ungodly to the wrong person, thing, place or habit he will try and do that. As long as you are bound he will continue to try digging you deeper into sin and keep you from serving God with all your heart.

Being tied to the Past

Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. King James Version

Luke 9:62(Amplified Bible) 62Jesus said to him, No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back [to the things behind] is fit for the kingdom of God. Amplified

Jesus is saying that if we look back (past) we are not fit for the Kingdom of God, which means doing things His way. It does not mean that Heaven has rejected you. Jesus is saying that looking back causes you to lose focus and not see your destiny.

Have you ever pushed a plow? It is hard to do, because you need strength and have to stay focused ahead. When plowing a garden, a farmer wants to make even and straight rows, so it is important to look ahead, so he can see whether his row stays straight. If he is distracted and looks away, he gets off track and realizes that the row he has made is anything but straight. That is why Jesus used the plow as an example.

Have you ever run track?

If you have, you know that whenever you are running in a track meet, you are assigned a lane to run in, and you have to stay in that lane. You cannot do that if you look back, it will slow you down, for one thing and you could run into another runner’s lane and be disqualified from the race. You have to stay focused and look straight ahead.

Phil 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Phil 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. King James

Philippians 3:13-14(Amplified Bible)

13I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.

In this scripture you can see that Paul had a revelation of the importance of moving forward and forgetting the past. I hope that each one reading this gets the same revelation about not looking back and pressing forward as Paul did. Whenever you look to the past you cannot move forward. Our God is a now God. Living in the past will keep one going backwards. It can cause much heartbreak, not to just ones self-but to many others. If you have been married before and plan on getting remarried you have to cut the ties of the previous marriage or they could cause pain or hurt in the new marriage. You should never compare one relationship to the other. I have seen that happen many times. I have heard women say that they would like to find someone just like their dad or just like another person. God has someone for you that may not be any thing like your dad, but it is who God thinks you need. Listen to the Lord when it comes to choosing your mate.

Before I made the choice and decision to totally surrender to doing things God’s way, I use to always feel like a victim, I felt like everyone used me, and I was continuously being hurt. The one thing that the Lord shared with me later is that I was so tied to being a victim and so tied to always being hurt, that is what I reaped. The sad thing about this is that I was so caught up in being a victim that I did not see the people that I was hurting. I had blinders on my eyes. I was hurting the ones I loved so much, but I did not realize that because I was so tied to hurts of the past. I was not hurting them intentionally; I just could not see how much they hurt seeing me hurting. Praise God I was set free of that and so can you be.
