Description: For students interested in pursuing a career in a health-related field. The David Barns Scholarship

Description: David’s Faith & Hope for Life Foundation is pleased to offer high school seniors attending high school in Genesee, Lapeer, Oakland, or Macomb counties in Michigan our fifth annual scholarship created in honor of David. The David Barns Scholarship will be awarded to a male and female high school senior that best represent David’s academic excellence, athletic prowess, and commitment to the community. The scholarship will provide $2,500 of financial assistance for college tuition. Additionally, the scholarship is eligible for renewal for three years, assuming good academic standing, continued community involvement, and a service commitment to the Foundation.

Students compete with a 3-5-minute speech on the Optimist International 2018 topic of “Where Are My Roots of Optimism?”There is a cash award for top three places at the local level and opportunities to advance to Districts for a $2500 college scholarship, which past local winners have achieved. Description: Children, step-children, and legal dependents of full- or part-time permanent federal civilian or postal workers employed with the federal government for more than three years, as well as the employees themselves and their spouses. Fred and Lena Meijer Scholarship

Description:The Fred and Lena Meijer Scholarship is a private scholarship fund established by Fred and Lena Meijer in 1975 for children of Meijer team members and enhanced in 2010 to include Meijer Team Members. The scholarship is for undergraduate study at an educational institution or training school within the United States. Scholarship awards are determined by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, a non-profit agency. To be considered for an award, the application form must be completed and submitted online by 5 PM April 1. Applicants must be a current Meijer team member who has been employed with at least one year of continuous service on the application deadline and will be attending college/university or technical school either full or part time. Description: For graduating seniors who are children of eligible Michigan Teamsters members. Student must have strong scholastic performance while in high school or significant academic improvement in each successive year, achieving the equivalent of a B average at graduation. Student should demonstrate exemplary qualities of leadership in school, extra-curricular activities, and the community. Class rank is an important factor in the selection process. However, extenuating circumstances are also considered. Application or acceptance as a full-time, first-year student at an accredited post-secondary educational certificate/degree program; e.g., a four-year or two-year public/private college or university, a two-year technical college, or other accredited educational institution located in Michigan.

Description: For fatherless children (either through death or permanent termination of parental rights) who are residents of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Lenawee, Monroe, Livingston, Washtenaw or St. Clair counties and want to pursue majors or careers in nursing, law, dentistry or medicine. Applicants must demonstrate strong scholastic performance while in high school or college with an equivalent of a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants must demonstrate leadership and character through extracurricular activities, service in school and community, volunteer involvement and paid work experience.

Description: The Robby Atherton Foundation Scholarship has been established in memory of Robby Atherton, IKE Class of 2004.
