Surveyed from the air - aerial views give Salisbury estate agent a selling advantage

Estate Agent McKillop and Gregory has given its local business a boost by providing aerial photographs of every property in its area. The Salisbury-based company has installed a special software programme with digitally-stored aerial photography from Getmapping. By entering a property address, an instant bird’s eye view of the precise location is displayed on-screen and then printed to add to sales particulars. The company has also purchased two large wall prints showing the City and surrounding area.

The aerial photography is from Getmapping’s ambitious national aerial survey, known as the Millennium Map. Every inch of England and Wales has been photographed in great detail to create a completely seamless aerial photo-map. Aerial photography is therefore available centred on every single property from Lands End to the Northumberland coast. Most of populated Scotland is also now available and mainland UK will be completed this year.

McKillop and Gregory, who is part of the 720-strong Home Sale Network of selected independent estate agents, has had a very encouraging response from its clients and prospective purchasers. The software package, called InfoMap, allows aerial photography and street maps to be viewed at different scales with pan and zoom facilities to give a closer view.

“The comments we have been receiving from our clients have been very encouraging and prospective purchasers are always very pleased to see the location so that they can see the area which surrounds it,” says Clive Gregory of McKillop and Gregory. “We also use the software in the office when we are looking at the location of a particular property prior to us visiting it and we also from time to time measure the area of a property.”

According to McKillop and Gregory, the aerial photography has been particularly useful for purchasers new to the area. They can get a complete picture of property’s aspect and its proximity to countryside, schools, the station and anything else of interest.

”We also have a considerable number of favourable comments about our two laminated wall prints. One is an aerial photograph of Salisbury and the other an aerial view of the whole area which we cover from our office,” says Clive Gregory.
