Glogster Explantory Assignment Rubric

As your next performance task, you will research a topic that has two opposing positions. Research the two sides of the topic using credible sources and databases like Opposing Viewpoints. The first checkpoint will be your notes on your research. After your research, you will create your own Glogster poster online. You will use a specific sign-in that I will assign you, or if you would like to create an account, then please get your parent to sign here: ______

What I will be grading for:

1) Five paragraphs about your topic.

Each paragraph should embody supporting details and a consistent main idea, and each paragraph should flow smoothly from main idea to main idea. Use strong topic sentences and concluding sentences (20 points) Standards 8W2 a, b, d

Two paragraphs are given to EACH side of your topic. Remember to keep your own bias out of these paragraphs. Your conclusion is your fifth paragraph and you can use this paragraph to evaluate BOTH sides of the topic. (20 points) Standards 8W2 a, b, d, f

2) You must use paraphrase, summary, and direct quotation at least once through the course of your essay. Each example must be BOLDED to show me where you used them. (10 points) Standards 8RI1 8RI2 8W8 8W9

3) List your citations at the bottom of your Glogster. Use parenthetical citations or textual evidence terms to give your source credit. (10 points) Standards 8RI1 8RI2 8W8 8W9

4) 2-4 images with captions to match your paragraphs and topic. These images must include a caption that describes what the image is about and what the image is showing the reader about your topic. (5 points) Standards

5) The Glogster poster must be organized and appealing to the eye. It must show clear effort and creativity. (15 points) Standards 8W6

6) You must use each of the sentence structure types through your paragraphs. (5 points) Standard 8W3 c.

7) Your grammar and mechanics must have fewer than two mistakes in punctuation, capitalization, verb agreement, spelling, and incomplete sentences. (5 points) Standards 8W2e. and 8L1
