JOB TITLE:HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER (MATERNITY COVER)

LOCATION:GFS PLATFORM HEAD OFFICE

REPORTING TO:DIRECTOR

RESPONSIBLE FOR:HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATOR

Overall purpose of the post

To provide an effective and professional HR service to managers and staff employed across GFS Platform ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practice.

To adhere to and regularly monitor and evaluate the Hear By Right framework, ensuring the active participation of young women in all aspects of the work.

Key areas of responsibility
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Toensure that the quality of the HR service provided is proactive and meets the needs of the users through set standards, business plans, regular reports and performance audits, developing the service accordingly.
  • To ensure consistency and fairness of HR practicesacross the organisation.
  • To provide a comprehensive HR service to managers including support with leadership, training, management, development across the work and regular updates on all HR areas including recruitment, employment policy and related areas.
  • To ensure that HR practice is in accordance with GFS Platform standards and complies with current employment legislation/best practice.
  • To ensure that information is handled appropriately, stored accurately and following our Data Protection policy including maintenance of our HR database.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

Working alongside our external employment law legal advisors;

  • To provide specialist advice and support on a variety of complex and sensitive issues including redeployment, discipline, performance management, harassment, recruitment, sickness terms and conditions, and other aspects of employee relations.
  • To advise and support managers in the management of disciplinary/grievance issues and attend appeal hearings/employment tribunals as appropriate, preparing case papers and presenting evidence as required.
  • To ensure sensitiveinformation is well managed, accurate records maintained and clear lines of communication at all times.
  • To undertake consultation/negotiations with staff in relation to local/ organisational change issues and facilitate effective partnerships working to resolve employee relations issues.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

  • Alongside the Director, actively contribute to the development and implementation of an HR strategy, policies and procedures.
  • To review and propose HRpolicy development and service improvements which reflect current employment legislation and best practice.
  • In conjunction with the Quality & Training Manager, support the effective delivery of HR training courses to support relevant HR policies and procedures.

PAYROLL

  • To produce a payroll report each month for starters, leavers, monthly timesheets and employee changes, ensuring employee changes are recorded accordingly.

PROJECT WORK

  • To undertake surveys on a range of HR issues including but not limited tostress and staff surveys & improving working lives across our work.
  • Design, deliver and review training and development courses on a range of HR issues and procedures to line managers as appropriate.
  • To undertake other project work as designated by the Director.

STAFF MANAGEMENT

  • Todevelop, motivate and manage all work undertaken by the HR Administrator,to achieve high levels of performance, established within the context of good practice.
  • To line manage the HR Administratorproviding on-going and appropriate support, and conducting regular supervisions and appraisals.

SENIOR MANAGEMENT

  • To participate in the Senior Management Team, providing HR advice on a variety of issues.
  • To collaborate with the Director and senior management in the creation, implementation and evaluation of business plans, ensuring the business planning process contributes to the organisations strategy.
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with partner agencies.

GENERAL

  • To undertake training and attend meetings as required as part of the role.
  • To assist with and be part of the planning, organising and running of occasional evening or weekend events and residentials.
  • To contribute to and assist with any paperwork on the work of GFS Platform to ensure a high profile is held within the field of work with young women.
  • To comply with the GFS Platform’s Policies and Procedures and uphold any changes to these.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as and when requested.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

HR MANAGER (MATERNITY COVER)

Location:GFS Platform Head Office, Unit 2 Angel Gate, 326 City Road, London, EC1V 2PT

Salary:£33,052 per annum, GFS Salary scale 36

Hours of Work:35 hours per week; 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Some unsocial hours may be required inline with this post. Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) is allowed for all work agreed with Line Manager beyond contracted hours at the rate of one hour for one hour, with a maximum of 7 hours in anyone day. TOIL to be taken within one month.

Paid Holiday:25 days per annum (pro rata), in addition, the GFS offers two discretionary days which are taken at Christmas and Easter, and 8 public or bank holidays (pro rata).

Pension Scheme:Employees are offered membership of the Society’s Pension Scheme with The Pensions Trust upon commencement of employment. GFS Platform will contribute 7.5% and employees must contribute either 2.5%, 5% or more.

Additional information:

This post is being offered initially on the basis of a 9 month fixed term contract. As this

is a maternity cover contract, it may be extended for a further 3 months.

Offer of this job is conditional on receipt of at least two professional references and a CRB disclosure.

A six month probationary period will apply, until confirmed in post the notice period will be one week.

This post will include an amount of travel to our other sites and the Society will reimburse 2nd class rail fare.
