Eat Well, Move More, Choose Change!

Get Hackney Healthy Challenge Fund is a community led initiative which aims to assist, guide and support children to create and maintain a healthier lifestyle

The Health and Wellbeing Board in Hackney identified childhood obesity as the main children’s health priority. A range of public and VCS partners are working together to address the health and wellbeing barriers for children in their early years, to improve the co-ordination of services. to increase the skills of health professionals, trial new initiatives and cascade good practice.

Hackney CVS is working with Hackney Council and Hackney Learning Trust on the Get Hackney Healthy Campaign which promotes the messages outlined in the national change for life campaign; Eat Well, Move More, Live Longer.

Bright Ideas

Do you have a bright idea to that improves children’s health and access to physical activities?

Can you co-ordinate and deliver regular activities to parents and children under five to 11 years?

Are you a specialist provider that can deliver nutrition classes or sporting activities in a community setting?

Then we want to hear from you. You may be able to contribute to our healthier lifestyle programme to create real change for Hackney’s Children

About Our Programme

The maximum award is up to £5,000.00 this includes the cost for monitoring participants’ progress. Projects must be completed between 1st April 2015 - 31st March 2016. The end of grants reports must be submitted within a month of the completion of your activities. The finding and recommendations will be fed back to the Health and Wellbeing Board and inform policy makers about community led solutions to health issues.

As part of the campaign voluntary and community organisations are invited to design and deliver programmes that demonstrate ways to achieve a healthier weight and gain the skills.

Stage 3 / Successful applicants will be invited to present their idea at a 10 minute presentation followed by an interview with CYP representatives and Get Hackney Healthy Panel members

Stage 1-ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

This checklist has been designed to help applicants decide whether the Get Hackney Healthy Challenge Fund is right for the organisation. We want Hackney’s children to access free to low cost activities that demonstrate measurable change over time and increase parents’ knowledge and skills to provide a healthier lifestyle.

At this stage we would like applicants to check whether they meet the eligibility criteria and to discuss the proposal before making an application.
